no interval before auto-locking

<div class="IPBDescription">the app locks itself immediately, regardless of autolock interval</div>I have the application set to "Autolock idle application after specified interval" and the Autolock interval set to 60 minutes. But whenever I leave the application and return to it, I always have to unlock it. Even backing out to the home screen and immediately clicking on the application requires an unlock code.

I've tried using the PIN code and the full password, and the behaviour is the same either way.

When I check the services running on my phone via Settings > Applications > Running Services, 1password is NOT one of the running services, even if I switch to the service list directly from the 1password application. Perhaps it's failing to persist in memory? I don't have third-party task killer installed.

    Hi Hugh,

Autolock has nothing to do with locking 1Password after the application goes out of focus.

Autolock locks an idle application after a predefined period of non-use.

However, every time the application goes out of focus (for example by pressing back or home buttons or switching to another application), it is locked by default

    with PIN or Master Password.

If you don't like this behavior, deselect both "Select with Pin" and "Select with Password" checkboxes in Preferences screen.

In this case, 1Password won't be locked when it goes out of focus.

Please let me know if you need more info.

BTW, the new release of 1Password for Android is coming in the next couple of weeks, please stay tuned for the updates.

    Best regards,

    Gene

  • Thanks Gene. So I am understanding you correctly that the only case in which the autolock interval is applied is if I open 1password, then leave it in focus for the interval length? That seems like an uncommon scenario. I usually consult 1password and then go to whatever webpage or application I needed the password for.

A feature that would be good to have in the new version would be the option to have it stay unlocked for the selected interval even when the application has lost focus. My ideal setting would be to have it require the master password be entered (PINs seem less secure to me) then stay available for reasonably amount of time - say an hour - while I do a web browsing session, then lock itself down to master password again. But if it requires unlocking evertime I return to the app then I'm going to switch to PIN for convenience. As I say, less secure.

But I get that everyone has different ways of working. Thanks for the app. Looking forward to the new version.

    Hi Hugh,

You are welcome, hope I was able to satisfy you with my explanations: autolock is locking an idle application after a predefined time interval has elapsed. Explicit locking is using a menu Lock option.

Implicit locking is locking the application when it goes out of focus.

I thank you for the feedback, I will consider it in the plans for the future development.

By the way, PIN is used only for unlocking the application (there is a limited number of tries though after that the application exits).

Master Password is used in order to decrypt the data.

    Best regards,

    Gene
