Bookmarklet broken (javascript syntax problem)

Hi,

I've created a 1Password bookmarklet in Safari and wanted to reuse it with FireFox 3.x and it seems that the javascript syntax is broken (looks like the code is incomplete).

In the FF JavaScript console I am getting:
Error: unterminated string literal
The end of the JavaScript looks "unfinished"
{"u":"035C81BC194C4A2A9595225B11370
I know that not much information to debug with, but I would not like to paste here the contents of the bookmarklet, even though the passwords are encrypted.

    Hello tetsuo,

The first thing I would try is to recreate the bookmarklet from within 1Password. How are you "copying" it into Firefox?

Also, is there a reason you are using the less secure bookmarklet in Firefox rather than the 1Password Firefox extension? I would strongly recommend simply using the extension which accesses your 1Password data directly rather than requiring a new bookmarklet to be regenerated each time a change is made to your data.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

UPDATE: I just double-checked. The "1Password Logins" bookmarklet was not designed to work in Firefox and does not. If you copy and paste the "URL" from Safari's bookmarks it is truncated anyway, but even if you do a proper bookmarks import from Safari into Firefox, Firefox simply doesn't have what it takes to execute the JavaScript properly. The "1Password Logins" bookmarklet is designed for use in Mobile Safari. By extension it also seems to work well in other WebKit browsers, but it is unsupported in Gecko-based browsers. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer.

    Hi,

Well, I work in software engineering and I need access to FireFox 3.6.x for a reason.

I also wanted to use the 1Password goodness, but the plugin doesn't work with FF 3.6

That's why I wanted to use the bookmarklet.

Any plans to support 1Password extension for FF 3.6.x?

Cheers and thanks for your support!

    Sure. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

The current stable version of 1Password has long supported and does support Firefox 3.

If you are having trouble getting 1Password 3.5.9 to work in Firefox 3, please let me know. I would love to resolve the issue for you.

    Cheers,

I'm using 1Password v3.6.0.BETA-32, can I downgrade "just like that" without any issues?

    By all means. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' />

    1. Download 1Password from our web site:

    http://agilebits.com/downloads

Click on the "Download Now" button under "1Password 3"

    2. Quit your web browser and 1Password, if it's running

    3. Drag the newly downloaded version of 1Password to the same location as any previous one -- replacing it

    4. Run 1Password at least once and then your web browser

Your information is stored in a data file separate from the application, so it will not be harmed by this procedure.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

    I am at your service.

That worked. Installed the stable (non beta) release, and the extension works with FF 3.

    Thanks for your support!

    Case closed for me.
