Bookmarklet update problems with Safari

If you update the Bookmarklet using the 1Password Mac OSX client you may end up with more than 1 bookmarklet in the Safari bookmarks. And you won't know which one is the most recent. I have not yet understood how this happens (maybe when syncing isync will let the old one and the new one live?), but it goes on my nerves, because on my iPhone I will have both Bookmarklets and have to try which one is the correct one.

So before updating the bookmarklet I need to first remove the old one from Safari bookmarks on my Mac, sync with MobileMe to get it removed from my iPhone and after that I can update the Bookmarklet in the 1Password Mac Client.

Please find out what happens and fix this, it is a pain.

I don't know if this also affects the Windows client. In what bookmarks will the Windows clients store the Bookmarklets anyway?

    Hello Justin,

I'm sorry that you are having trouble with the "1Password Logins" bookmarklet.

Unfortunately, I cannot seem to reproduce this. It sounds like a sync problem with MobileMe. I have even attempted to recreate the problem by renaming and moving the bookmarklet in Safari, but I still cannot. When I click the "Update Now" button, the bookmark is renamed back to what I have set in 1Password (though the location in my Safari bookmarks remains the same). It is being updated by ID rather than by name or location.

The "1Password Logins" bookmarklet is exclusive to 1Password for Mac.

You might consider the "Look Up in 1Password" bookmarklet if you have 1Password installed on your iOS device.

One thing I would try would be to reset MobileMe syncing on both your desktop and iPhone.

Please let me know how it turns out. I would love to get this resolved for you.

    Thanks!
  • Hi Khad,

I answered this in the other post of yours. I installed that bookmarklet. It does not fill the fields on its own. Copy and pasting 4 fields for getting looged in is more work than is really needed form the users side. You could take that bookmarklet a wee bit further and it would be perfect. (See my other post).

    Best,

    JC
