Trouble with login in Camino

I am a Camino fan because it handles my online banking and investing flawlessly. I am using 3.5.9 but have now had to reinstall 1PW into Camino 2.0.7 on several occasions. Not sure what changed but it is no longer the 100% reliable Camino 1PW combination that it used to be.

Regardless, I understand your issue with the future of camino. Unfortunately it leaves me in a precarious situation since safari does not work 100% of the time with my banking and investment websites. I'm currently looking at Opera (which for me is extremely fast) as my financial browser and will now have to look for appropriate security software.

UGH!

I'm sorry that you are having trouble with Camino and 1Password 3.5.9. Nothing has changed in the latest stable version, though. We didn't go back and create a "faulty Camino support" build to replace 3.5.9. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

If you need any assistance getting the Camino extension working properly with 1Password 3.5.9, please let me know. I would love to resolve the issue for you!

To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.

Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, though.

Just a reminder that we have many users still using 1Password 2.12.1 (the latest version with Tiger support) now nearly a year and a half after its release. Likewise 1Password 3.5.9 will continue to offer Camino support for years to come. We will not force you to upgrade if you require support for legacy software.

Please do send us the Diagnostics Report if you need any further assistance.

We are always here to help!

I have created a diagnostic report and sent it to support. The issue is that the userid and password are not filled in when you go to the website. The image below is likely of some importance.

Note that it says no logins saved for this website - works perfectly in Safari, there are at least 2 logins

Thanks for sending in the Diagnostics Report, Charlie.

I can see from the Diagnostics Report that everything appears to be loading correctly. It looks like a form filling issue rather than a problem with the extension not loading correctly. If it was not loading, you would not see it in the context menu nor would it work on all your other sites.

Could you please provide the URL for the site you are having trouble with? I would love to take a look at it and see if I can help you get it working in Camino. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Well, I surmised from the screen shot that the site was TD Waterhouse WebBroker. If I am mistaken, please let me know. Otherwise, this solution should work well. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Please try saving the login manually like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and choose Save Login.

    3. Set the Action field to Create New Login (or to Replace <login-name>, to update an existing Login item).

    4. Click the Save button.

Using the above technique I was able to save and fill a sample login in Camino at:

    https://webbroker.tdwaterhouse.ca/

Manually saving a login can be useful for logins that are either problematic to begin with or were once working but have since stopped. Doing this allows 1Password to refresh everything it "knows" about the page. Login pages often change as websites are updated and this can be a necessary but very useful tip. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

If you are still having trouble, please take a look at our "Website Login Issues" guide. Note especially that editing the login to change the Submit value from "If Autosubmit is ON" to "Never" works on a lot of sites which modify the form before submitting it or are looking for a literal key press or mouse click. This will give you the chance to actually give them what they are looking for by submitting the form yourself rather than allowing 1Password to do it on your behalf.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!

problem: how do I install camino without 1Password?

Getting desperate I have decided to remove 1Password from Camino. Following the Camino ReadMe I have done the following

turned off browser support within 1Password preferences

To get rid of all the files related to Camino:

    1. Drag the Camino application icon from the Applications folder to the Trash.

    2. Drag the ~/Library/Application Support/Camino folder to the Trash.

    3. Drag the ~/Library/Caches/Camino folder to the Trash.

    4. Drag the ~/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.camino.plist file to the Trash.
I then reinstalled Camino and have the hidden plugin preference at false so there should be no plugins. This seems to have worked since about:plugins shows this:

When I reinstall camino I get this unsupported extension message:

since about:plugins in Camino does not show the 1Password plugin anywhere how do I install camino without 1Password?

    Thanks for writing back.

This is certainly unusual. I have not seen any trouble with Camino in a very long time.

1Password's Camino extension is not a "plugin" in the technical sense, so it will never show up in the list of plugins in Camino or other browsers. Plugins are things that run inside the web page (like Flash). 1Password is a bit different in how it operates, thus it cannot be a plugin.

You should certainly not have to re-save logins which are working in Safari and Firefox in order to fill them in Camino.

Most common browser extensions can be fixed by correcting folder permissions.

Before trying this, you must first quit your browser. Then, launch 1Password and click Help > Troubleshooting > Reset Folder Permissions. You will be prompted for your Administrator password. I would also advise Clear Cache and Rebuild Data File from the Help > Troubleshooting menu as well.

Finally, restart the 1Password application, then your browser. Test to be sure that logins are working properly. Is everything working well at this point?

Try restarting your Mac. Does the problem return after restarting your Mac?

If you are still having trouble, could you send email us a fresh Diagnostics report? There may be additional clues in the new report after you have performed the above steps.

If you don't mind, perhaps it would be simpler to resolve this via email since we would both only have one place to keep track of. I have already replied to your latest email and look forward to your reply there.

We will get to the bottom of this. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Thanks to Khad's assistance this issue has been resolved.

A combination of removing all extensions plus clearing cache, rebuilding the data file and resetting permissions did the trick.

    Excellent customer service. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Thanks for updating the thread, Charlie. I am really glad that everything is working well now. Sometimes it can take a moment to figure out the real problem. I appreciate your patience and very kind words. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_bigsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-D' />

If anyone else is having similar trouble, I would suggest following the steps in our browser extensions troubleshooting guide rather than the convoluted path I took in this thread. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

    Best regards,
