<div class="IPBDescription">Add 1P to NNW</div>Hi Guys, NetNewsWire has a browser reader similar to safari, but I don't see anyway to add the 1P feature to it. Is it possible?

    Hello Jeff,

Please check the box for NetNewsWire in 1Password (Preferences > Browsers).

If you don't see it listed, please make sure you are using the latest stable version of 1Password (3.5.9) as it is not currently supported in the beta channel.

    1. Download 1Password from our web site:

    http://agilebits.com/downloads

Click on the "Download Now" button under "1Password 3"

    2. Quit your web browser and 1Password, if it's running

    3. Drag the newly downloaded version of 1Password to the same location as any previous one -- replacing it

    4. Run 1Password at least once and then your web browser

Your information is stored in a data file separate from the application, so it will not be harmed by this procedure.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

We are always here to help!

Hey, I do not see any password icon in NetNewsWire but I enabled additional browser extensions... How does it work with or where is it in NNW?

Same problem here -- on both my Lion iMac and my Snow Leopard MBP, each running 3.8.14Beta-3, that screen looks like this:

NetNewsWire has not ever been supported in Lion. Apple removed Scripting Additions from developer builds of Lion and brought them back only at the last minute. This is likely a sign that Apple plans to phase this technology out, and soon, but is giving developers a little more time to make the transition. Because we're trying to standardize our extension experience across browsers and prepare for the future, we have already taken Apple's progressive philosophy to heart and are looking towards the future to create a better experience for all customers.

At the moment we don't have any plans to support NetNewsWire in Lion, as it does not provide the same extensions framework available in Safari. For now we're focusing our efforts on browsers with a rich set of tools for extensions; currently this includes Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

In Snow Leopard, you will need to use the older 1Password 3.5. Offhand, I seem to recall that it only worked via the right-click contextual menu or with the menu bar icon, but I don't have Snow Leopard handy to test it. I'll see if someone else on the team is still running Snow Leopard or remembers how NetNewsWire support worked. <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Hello guys,

You will not see NNW in the newer versions with Lion Apple stopped allowing scripting additions in the betas and then at the last minute added them back. This has been a precursor to them abandoning them all together. So from what I understand NNW is a no go currently.

I have been looking for info in the KB to reference it but cannot find anything.

Edit : Looks like I am to slow typing khad beat me to the punch <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

THAT is 100% correct there is no button and only uses the right click menu <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Thanks, guys. Of course from my perspective, the fly in the ointment is in NNW. Brent Simmons sold it to Black Pixel and there haven't been any updates while BP (I assume) familiarize themselves with what they've bought and ready whatever it is they plan to do next. I think they're forgoing updates to version 3.3 and going for the jugular in with a version 4. My usual approach to get around the lack of 1P is to open the URL from NNW address bar in Safari if I want to password it. For all that, btw, I must say I'm not really too keen on Lion.

I've thought about this a bit more and there is a way. I use Readability in NNW, and the way I do it is to run a javascript (that I've embedded in an AppleScript with a hotkey to run it) that invokes it. Surely something like that could be made to work with 1P as well.

Thanks for the input NovaScotian. I'm just not sure about the security of passing passwords that way.
