Copy Paste options?
Comments
-
Hello jefferis,
Of course, copy/paste option is available for each secure item's field.
If you do a long click on the item field, the phone will vibrate for the moment and the value of the field will be copied to clipboard.
Next you can switch to the browser away form 1Password and paste the value here.
Please let me know if you need more info.
Best regards,
Gene

Just wondering if there is any easier way to get passwords and paste them in when the browser is not listed or the login area is not available using the 1Password interface.

Can you possibly add better copy/paste options, and also NOT automatically show the password when it's tapped and copied? I like the way the LastPass app adds both username and password notifications which you can then tap to copy each, which saves the step of needing to go back to the app.Flag 0

Hello djshack,
Thank you for your input, I will definitely think on how to make copy to clipboard more user friendly in the future versions of 1Password.
By the way, by default all passwords are displayed hidden, however, click on the password field makes them visible.
Next click on the same field makes passwords hidden again. I am thinking about making passwords visible for a short time only (second or so) and
revert them to dots afterwards. I don't see any security breach in making passwords visible though, in any case, user has already been verified by the Master
Password.
Regards,
Gene

I have just started using my new Android phone, and 1P/dropbox. All seems fine so far, but there is one thing that really seems to be a hassle.
I use the Bank app for my Internet banking, rather than the browser which doesn't do Internet banking well. To log in to the bank app, I must enter the master password for 1P, copy username, switch to bank app, paste username (long number) then go back to 1P which is now locked again, re-enter master password, copy password then change back to bank app and paste password.
Is there any way you can make it so I don't need to keep entering my master password for 1P over and over again?
Thanks.Flag 0 -
Hello GeorgeGoodman
First of all Welcome to 1Password for Android Forum !
1Password Reader always locks itself by default when the application goes in the background (for example, if Home button is pressed or another application goes to the front).
This behavior provides an additional level of security for your private data.
If you don't want 1Password Reader to lock itself , please goto application preferences -> Application Protection and uncheck both check boxes ("Lock using PIN" and "Lock using Master Password"). the application will not be locked until you request it explicitly by using "Lock" menu option.
Please let me know if you 'd like to get more information on that, I will be glad to assist you further.
Best regards,
Gene

Hi Gene,
I'm really liking the android app, and it's working great for me with dropbox... one thing though, often a message pops up that says "clipboard content cleared" but it is certainly not cleared!
If I use the clipboard viewer, not only is the recent clipboard item still there, but many other entries from days ago are still there as well. In fact the clipboard seems to grow with the number of items stored there growing every time clipboard is used, until I explicitly remove them one by one.

GG.

Hello GeorgeGoodman,
Thank you for the information. 1Password Reader does clear clipboard on my Nexus One phone, however, the behavior may be different on some other phone models.
1Password Reader sets an empty string replacing the existing clipboard message, however, it may be not enough in some situations because a clipboard history is kept by the device.
I see a discussion http://stackoverflow...oard-on-android on that. So far, I don't see a clear solution on how to clear clipboard history messages, will need to do more research on that.
I will review the issue and try to address it for the future application releases, so please stay in touch.
In the meantime, I recommend you to review http://www.androidzo...clear+clipboard,
and http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/clear-history-and-cache-on-your-android-device-with-history-eraser-pro/
There are plenty of free applications available on Android Market which should clear all messages on Clipboard at once.
Best regards,

Gene, I don't think you should reveal the password for any amount of time when the user is copy and pasting. The beauty of 1password is that I can login securely even if my friend is staring at my phone.
The Chrome browser extension does this beautifully. When you click, it copies-and-paste the value without revealing it. If you want to see it (and rare occasion), you click Edit and you see all the values.
I don't see ANY value added by revealing the password for any length of time.Flag 0 -
I dont know if you have tried it but the android app for keepass has a nice feauture in that it copies both username and password to the notification menu area as 2 seperate items.
You then go to the web page where you want to enter the info, drag the notification bar down, click on copy usrname to clipboard, enter that in your page, then drag the notification bar down a second time, copy the password to the clipboard and enter that in your page.
Its actually really easy and nice to use with out a lot of hassle of going backwards between the app and the web page.Flag 0 -
Hi wpchen and fuzzypiglet,
Thank you for the input, I need to explore what Keypass for Android is doing and probably enhance copy/paste functionality in a future releases of 1Password .
Please stay tuned for the updates.
I completely agree that it is good idea to have passwords hidden as much as possible, I reveal them only for a very short time. Copy/Paste functionality don't need to have
password revealed. Regarding Chrome extension, I think that the best option would be to do autologin in Browser, in order words, to have login page launched within a
browser and have all fields filled in. As far as I know, this functionality doesn't exist on any mobile platform. Currently we can only launch a page in a WebView (which has somewhat limited functionality) and have
username/password filled in. Hope the next version of Android OS will allow better application-browser interaction.
