Hello z3r0_plus and welcome to the Forums!

I want to be sure I understand your first question. I believe you are asking if it is possible to back up your 1Password for iPhone (or 1P Pro) without having to purchase 1P's desktop version (Mac or PC). The answer is: NO, you do NOT need to buy the desktop version to backup your iPhone!!!!

Please refer to the following link for details on the iPhone/iPod Touch backup and restore procedures: Backing Up and Restoring Your 1Password Touch Data.

Currently, it appears that you do not want/need to sync other devices. However, if you want to setup Dropbox synching in the future, you can download the free 30-day trial version of either 1P desktop version, setup the sync and then delete the desktop software. (just an FYI...<img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />)

I am interpreting your second question to mean: Will my data be overwritten if I install a future update for 1P's mobile app?

Thankfully, your 1Password data file is separate from the 1P application. In other words, you can upgrade the 1Password for iPhone and/or 1Password Pro app, and the data file should be fully intact. Of course, my comment assumes that you have not had some sort of catastrophic device failure that damages the integrity of the device's internal storage.

On more than one occasion, I've upgraded the 1Password Pro app on my iPhone and my iPad without the loss of a single bit of data. However, as mentioned in the backup/restore procedures in the link above, you should backup your iPhone data as a precaution before upgrading. You never know when something may go wrong.

Please let me know if I've answered your questions to your satisfaction. I, or another staff or Forum member, will do our best to answer whatever questions or concerns you have.

    Cheers!

    Brandt

Yes you can use the iPhone app stand alone,

In re to the backup portion I would recommend setting up dropbox sync it automates the backup process and if you ever decide you want the use the desktop app then you already have a head start.

The reason I mention Dropbox sync (aka also backup) is you mention "WE" seems to indicate more than one user this way the bunch of you will have an always updated copy of the passwords shared among all of you.

You can set up dropbox sync with the trial version of our desktop apps

Here is a similar thread that may help you along. http://forum.agile.ws/index.php?/topic/4621-synch-between-2-mobile-devices-without-mac/
