Auto update
<div class="IPBDescription">Can't seem to turn off Knox' auto-update</div>Hey there!
I am currently evaluating Knox to see whether it is the right tool for my encryption needs. So far it seems quite nice, but I can't seem to turn off Knox's built in auto-update.
Knox (2.0.8, 135) is installed on a 2010 Mac Pro running OS X 10.6.7 w/12GB of RAM. But even though I have turned off the auto-update function inside Knox itself ("Preferences" > "Version" > uncheck "Perform check automatically"), it still wants to make an outside connection every time I boot my machine. This I disallowed via Little Snitch (2.3.6, 1937) and now I get this error message every time I turn on my computer.

Why would it try to connect to an outside server when I explicitly told it not check for updates automatically? Did I do something wrong or may this be a bug that might/should be fixed?

Welcome to the forums, frankg. I am sorry that you are having this problem.
I wonder if there is a corrupt preference file which is not correctly storing your selection. Could you try moving this file to your desktop?
~/Library/Preferences/com.knoxformac.knox.plist
You will need to add your vaults back to Knox by dragging them into Knox's vault list in its preference window.
Please let me know how it turns out.

khad,
thanks for the quick reply - much appreciated. Unfortunately though, moving/deleting the preference file didn't help. I quit Knox, deleted the prefs file, rebooted my machine, started Knox, set my prefs anew and then rebooted again; same message as shown in the screenshot of my initial post.
Any other suggestions? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0 -
To diagnose this issue, I will need to see some of your log files to see what's happening. Please send us an email at support@agilebits.com and attach this file:
Home > Library > Logs > Knox > Knox.log
For some users, this file may not exist. Don't be alarmed if that's your situation as well.
I'll also need to look at the other logs in the Console.app while you attempt to reproduce the problem with Knox. You can get these logs as follows:
1. Launch Console.app which can be found in the /Applications/Utilities folder.
2. Click the "Clear Display" button on the toolbar.
3. Launch Knox and reproduce the problem. Then wait 15 seconds to let the Console refresh.
4. Press Command-A to select all the logs and Command-C to copy them to your clipboard.
5. After creating the email message, press Command-V to paste the logs.
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
