Feature Request: Mask Arbitrary Fields

<div class="IPBDescription">mark any field as "hidden" like passwords</div>1Password is pretty awesome!

When I create a new login that asks for security questions, I type them and my made-up answers into the Notes section of the Login. Is there a more appropriate place to put these? When I have that login selected later, all the confidential notes are visible to passersby. I would like them to be hidden and to be able to show them with the option button like passwords. This would be a new 'confidential notes' section in addition to the current visible notes.

I'd also like to be able to copy portions of the notes (the answers) to the clipboard while they are visible.

Would really appreciate this!

    Hi Andrew,

Unfortunately, at this time, there is not a way to mask your Login notes. Your observation has been discussed before, and one member came up with a novel idea of how to deal with the situation: Misc. questions for 1Password Use. The member saves each security question as a separate Login.

Currently, I do something similar. For each security question, I create a new Login using the Strong Password Generator (SPG). I use the security question as the Title, and modify the Generator settings to allow for any character type or length limitations. This method creates a Login that looks like any other in 1Password: your password is masked, and it allows an easy method for copying the entry to the clipboard.

If you don't use the SPG to create the Login, and/or the answer is visible in your Login entry, you can edit the Login Field containing your answer and change the Field name to "Password". This edit will mask the entry on your screen. I attached some screen shots in hopes of better explaining my method.

Your feature request for a Confidential Notes section within Logins (with portion copy functionality) has been added to the list. Thanks for your feedback!

    Cheers!

    Andrew,

I renamed the thread to reflect what I think is the broader request: masking of arbitrary fields. I hope you don't mind. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

We have received a few requests from users to add the ability to selectively choose which fields are hidden and which are displayed in the clear. This is something we are looking at for a future release, but I don't have a time frame for a specific version right now.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

We are always here to help!
