Login not listed in Safari right away

Typically, the way I use 1password is to open safari, browse to a website, press cmd-\ and it logs me in. This week I tried this procedure for https://www.lmpeople.com and it didn't work. When I browse to the site, the '1P' toolbar menu says 'No logins saved for this website'. As soon as I give focus to the username or password field, the menu correctly says 'Fill & Submit LM People'.

Is this a feature, website issue or a bug in 1password?

Thanks,

Jeff

    Hello Jeff,

I created a test login for the site in question, and I was able to enter my test information using both the cmd-\ shortcut and by launching the website from within the 1Password application.

In many cases where a saved Login was working, but now is not, there were changes made to the website's coding. When I experience a situation like yours, the first thing I do is go to the website and resave the login.

Once on the site, FILL the username and password but do NOT submit. Next, select the browser extension (the 1P icon in Safari's case) and select the Save Login... option. A box will appear asking if you wish to Create New Login or Replace "Login Name". Usually, I try the replace option first, but for some sites, I've needed to create new in order for it to work. Once you've made your choice, submit the login...for the LMPeople site, click the "Log In" button.

Close the webpage...navigate back to URL and try using the cmd-\ again. Does it work?

If resaving and/or creating a new login does not fix your issue, please let me know what versions of 1P and Safari that you are using.

    Thanks.

    Brandt

To be sure I am working with the same system as you, please note that I am using 1Password for Mac Version 3.6.0.BETA-40 (build 31040), and Safari Version 5.0.5 (6533.21.1).

    Brandt,

Thanks for the response. I actually tried re-saving the login, before I wrote the original e-mail. I just tried re-saving the login again just to be sure and I still experience the issue.

    1Password for Mac Version 3.6.0.BETA-40 (build 31040).

    Safari is Version 5.0.5 (6533.21.1)

  • Jeff,

Thanks for the follow up reply. Sorry the re-save option didn't work.

Please try again using the "Create New" option. If that doesn't work, we'll find out what's askew...no doubt about it!

Thanks for your patience. I know this is frustrating.

I have tested this and cannot reproduce any problem either. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />

Just to be sure, try moving your current login item for LMPeople to the trash. Then please try saving the login manually like this:

    1. Enter your username and password, but DO NOT submit the form.

    2. Click the 1Password button in your browser's toolbar, and choose Save Login.

    3. Set the Action field to Create New Login

    4. Click the Save button.

Are you invoking 1Password before or after you close the overlay which states: "It has been detected that you are using an unsupported browser."

It appears to be working properly for me either way, but I don't actually have an account there to verify the login (only the form filling).

This is the URL saved in my login item:
https://www.lmpeople.com/Auth/Login.aspx
Is that the one you are using as well?

    Please let me know. Thanks!

    Jeff,

After step 11, please try the following and reply with your results:
That is just the strangest thing. I have seen similar behavior before but I can't reproduce it on that particular site. In any event, I always love step 8. If you know what I mean. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/emoticon-0103-cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8)' />

The good news is that the site does work well in Chrome which is making use of our very latest form filling code, so we do have a "fix," but I do not currently have a time frame for when it will be ported to our Safari/Firefox extensions. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, though. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

You could also give the 1Password extension in Google Chrome a try if you were interested in an immediate solution. I'd love to know how it goes if you do.

I can't reproduce it either, and I've tried several times. Strange indeed.

    Have to add, that I love step <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/emoticon-0103-cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='8)' /> too!

    Jeff,

It's a long shot, but do you have GreaseKit installed? There may be a conflict. If so, could you try uninstalling GreaseKit and see if that helps?

    Thanks!

I don't regularly use Google Chrome, but decided to download it and test it with this website. The 1password extension works as expected with Google Chrome.

    I saw your question below. Since I don't even know what GreaseKit is, I'm going to guess I don't have it installed. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Pressing Cmd-/ didn't work... however double clicking from within 1Password did work.

There's really no need to take up more of your time. I use the problem site about once a week so it's not a problem to just click in the 'username' field before I press cmd-/. As much as anything, I was surprised to see what appeared to be a bug in 1Password. I've had nothing but GREAT experience with the software. My intent here was to post a bug report and help provide feedback.

Again, thanks for all your help and thanks for such a great product.
