Additional Upgrade Paths?

I recently purchased a single user license for 1Password and love it!

Problem is now I am looking to put it onto other machines in the house... most are Macs which means I can upgrade to a Family Pack... but I still have one lonely Windows machine in use and would love to sync passwords across all three and share the 1Password love... except there doesn't seem to be a way to go from a single Mac user to a Windows + Mac Family pack <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> Is there anyway I can do this or am I going to end up with an extra license I can't use?

Hello The_Hawk and welcome to the Forums!

I'm glad that you are happy enough with 1P to want to share the love among your other systems. I know that feeling well!

It sounds like you may be familiar with AgileBits' licensing policy, but for others who come across this post, please see the following link: AgileBits Software Licenses

If you will be the only person using 1P on your various Macs, you will not need to buy another 1P4Mac license. However, if others will be using the program, you correctly surmised that you will need to upgrade to the Family Pack.

Regarding the one lonely Windows machine, I have the same situation in my home. If you use Dropbox, you could just access 1PasswordAnywhere (1PA) from your PC whenever you happen to use it: 1PasswordAnywhere on Windows

If you use your PC often and/or you just can't stand the thought of not using 1P's colorful interface, you will need to purchase a separate Windows license.

Please note that at this time, there are still some functionality differences b/w the 1P4Mac and 1P4Windows applications: 1P4Windows Known Issues and feature requests So, you may wish to download the 30-day free trial to ensure you are happy with the program.

If you do decide to purchase a 1P4W license, please send a message to support@agilebits.com and reference this thread. As a current and loyal customer, I'm confident that you will be offered a deal that you can live with. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

    Cheers!

    Brandt

P.S. There have been a plethora of 1P4Windows functionality upgrades added in the current Windows BETA version. If you don't mind living on the edge (i.e. experiencing the rare program hiccup), you could download the free trial and then check the "Include Beta versions" box in the Update preferences. Just a thought for those wanting 1P4W to be more like 1P4Mac.
  • I didn't even know that 1PasswordAnywhere existed, so something to look at. I will also take your advise and try the trial out first to make sure it does what I want, although I really only want very basic functionality on the Windows Machine So I'm confident it will do that <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

In reality I need two new licenses, one for Windows and one for a Mac so maybe the Mac + Windows bundle will be enough, but then if I can upgrade to the Win + Mac Family Pack it makes things nice and simple (both now and for future upgrades <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />).

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere in this thread, so I just want to make sure you knew about Dropbox syncing. It's the easy, secure way to keep 1Password in sync across a virtually unlimited number of Macs, PCs, iPhones, iPads, Android, and even Windows Phone 7 devices. Set it and forget it.

    I can't live without it.

Thats the plan, share the credentials across both my Wife and my computers including the Windows gaming machine so no matter where we might be sitting we can still access the things we need.
