Wife and I upgraded 1Password on Macs & it crapped out

<div class="IPBDescription">Can't use 1Password in Safari. Troubleshooting tips didn't wor</div>Very frustrated and disappointed in how you released the latest version of 1Password and broke

the context-menus and 1Password functionality in Safari.

I followed the instructions in the users's guide that involved shutting down browsers

uninstalling the extensions, logging out and back in, re-installing the extensions,

but no more 1Password in right click menu.

What a hassle. Really. Wow. How to fix this now???

Both computers running Snow Leopard 1.6.7 and Safari 5.0.5

Hello Typical User and welcome to the Forums!

I'm sorry your recent experience with 1Password has been frustrating and disappointing. Context menus have NOT been removed from either the stable version (3.5.9) or the Beta version (3.6.0-40).

You have followed the instructions from the user's guide, but please check one more thing before I advise further.

1P's browser shortcuts & context menu functionality can be turned on/off in the following area: Preferences>Browsers. It is the first check box under Browser Display Settings and is called Show in shortcut/context menu. (see attached screen shot)

Please take a look at your current settings and make sure the box is checked. If it is, and you still do not have context menu access when you right-click, please let me know.

I look forward to your reply.

  • The options are checked. I've tried over and over again and cannot get the 1password item

in the Safari context menus on my wife's computers. It's working for me, but she's the

one that needs it the most.

I'm a software engineer by trade and have designed many GUIs and interfaces and tons

of software and used countless programs as well, so I'm not naive. Something is wrong

here that is beyond basic settings and we really need help getting this figured out without

losing her existing password database as we use this for all kinds of essential things and

    this is impeding us.

    Thanks.

    Typical User,

It appears that your user name belies your actual experience. I would not consider you a typical user by any definition.

Without prior knowledge of your extensive tech background, I did not wish to assume that you had thoroughly investigated the Preference options. I don't believe that any of our users are naive, but I cannot afford to presume one has confirmed the proper program settings unless he or she specifically states it.

Given that you have confirmed the Preference settings, it sounds like your 1Password installation may be damaged, which would be affecting browser integration.

    To resolve this, please:

    1. Download 1Password from our web site: http://agilewebsolutions.com/downloads

    2. Quit your web browser and 1Password, if it's running

    3. Drag the newly downloaded version of 1Password to the same location as any previous one -- replacing it

    4. Run 1Password at least once and then your web browser

Your information is stored in a data file separate from the application, so it will not be harmed by this procedure.

You may have already attempted this procedure, but you did not mention it in your OP. In addition, you are posting in the non-Beta forum, so I presume you are using 1P for Mac 3.5.9. I am certain that you understand the difference between stable and beta versions, but others who come across this thread may not.

Please let me know the results of the reinstall. Your issue is unique, and I know we both wish to get to the bottom of it quickly.

    Thank you for your patience.

If you are still having trouble, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.

Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, though.

It sounds like a very straightforward case of the browser extension not installed, and rather than have all this back and forth, I'm sure we can get this resolved much more quickly if you email us your Diagnostics Report. I'd hate to drag this out any longer for you since your first post in this topic was over 10 days ago.

Looking forward to hearing back from you one way or the other. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

OK, well I just installed again from the link provided, and no change.

No 1password in context menu. That's not happening for me on my Mac Pro

but I can't get 1Password to work at all with Google Chrome no matter what I've done

and I'm running the latest update of that and 3.5.9 of 1Password.

Not sure if you saw my post, but I would love to get a Diagnostics Report from you as I mentioned in my post above if you don't mind. I'm sure we can get this working if we have some more information (the kind that the Diagnostics Report provides). <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I noticed that you mention Chrome now, though. Initially I thought we were talking about Safari since that was what you mentioned in your original post. 1Password provides no context menus in Chrome at this time, so if that was the trouble, I think we just solved the puzzle. If not, please do send that report.

    Thanks!
  • I'm having the same issue. The contextual menu in Safari stopped working just this past week.

    It still works in Firefox.

    Welcome to the forums, BTKO!

The contextual menu is not present in the new Safari 5.1 extension right now, but if you are still using Safari 5.0 please try reinstalling the Safari 5.0 extension.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!
