Auto-Type with more than two fields

Hi all,

I've just downloaded 1Password for Windows to trial it, with the hope of using it on both my PC, Mac and iPhone as a complete password solution.

However, I'm having an issue with auto-type on a certain website. The website has the standard username and password fields, but also a third field for a token code (like an RSA security token). I don't use a token, so I only need the username and password fields, but when I try using 1Password's auto-type feature by using either the hotkey (Ctrl+\) or by the browser button, it tries to type something in the token field, and the login fails.

I've checked the entry in 1Password, and there was only data for the two fields I need. I tried manually adding an extra login field for the token code and left it blank, but 1Password still tries to type something in the field. I can't tell what is actually being entered, because the field is obscured, and unfortunately both my login and password are both the same length. My theory is it's repeating either one, but I can't tell which.

This happens in both Firefox and Internet Explorer, but strangely enough, doesn't happen when I use the Auto-Type button within 1Password itself - it logs in fine with no issues.

I'm stumped, anyone have any suggestions?

Matt, welcome to the forum! I'm sorry it's taken so long for someone to respond to your post. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

First, "auto-type" is completely separate from pressing Ctrl+\ or clicking on the 1P button in your browser's tool bar. That explains why the "auto-type" buttons are working, even though the other two methods aren't.

The question is why the other two methods aren't working.

    Please try this:

Visit the site's login page.

Fill in the username and password fields, but do not submit the form.

Click the 1P button in the browser's tool bar, and click the Save Login button.

Set the action to Create New Login, specify a unique name, and click the Save button.

Refresh the browser page, so the username and password fields are cleared.

Click the 1P button in the browser's tool bar, and select the new Login item you just created.
With any luck, 1Password will have saved only those two fields and will fill them in correctly; you can delete the old Login item that doesn't work.

If you have no such luck <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> let us know—we'll talk you through editing the Login item in 1Password, so you can get it to work correctly.
