Security Settings

<div class="IPBDescription">Autolock and unlocking preferences</div>Something has changed on the last update to 1 password. Previously, if I went to a website that I had stored information for in 1 password, if I attempted to log into that site the 1 password main password window would pop up and require my master password. Now, when I go to log in, there is no request for the master password and I am logged into the site automatically. This is crazy. Why has this changed? Someone could hack my computer and click on my bank bookmark and be into my account without any need to provide a password. Can someone please explain how I can change the settings back to provide the security of at least providing the master password one time??? Thanks for any help.

UPDATE: I restarted my computer and now it seems to be working again. However, I've noticed that once you enter the password one time it doesn't require you to enter it again. As long as the 1 password application isn't actively running then I think it should require a master password every time you try to log in.

    Hello td3k,

I'm sorry you had a frustrating experience lately, but I'm glad rebooting your system appeared to solve the issue.

No updates have been made to 1P's locking functionality. You can set the requirement for the 1Password application and/or the browser extensions to require your Master Password on the first use. However, you will not be asked for the password again unless you close the 1P app and/or close your browser(s). If you wish to leave the application and/or the browsers running, you must "lock" 1Password for both situations.

1Password's application and browser lock settings are located on the Preferences>Security tab. For more information regarding the various settings, please refer to the following thread: Close app does not lock

Out of curiosity, what version of 1P and which browser are you using? I have not heard anyone else mention your experience, but there always has to be a first person to report it.

It would be helpful to know your current system for future reference.

    Cheers!

  • Restarting the computer seemed to have done the trick. It is now working properly again (thank goodness).

I am running Safari (OS X) 5.0.5 and 1 Password 3.5.9 and Snow Leopard 10.6.7

    Thanks for the info
