Password data is filled in every field

Hello,

I'm using 1Password (3.5.9) on a Mac. This works very good - I have no problem with logging into websites. I purchased the Windows version (1.0.5.190) today. I synced the password database via dropbox. I can see all my accounts in the Windows version. The data seem to be ok.

Now the following happens only on Windows:

1. When I use the for example the Firefox add-on to login to a web page with the "Go and fill login" option, it opens the webpage and fills every single field it finds with the password. It never uses the user name, only the password in every single field.

2. When I go to a login site of a web page, where it states "username" and "password" and I use the option "Log in with <Website>". The add on again fills as well username as password with the password information.

This is happening in IE9 and Firefox4

I can only log on, when I copy the username and the password to the clipboard and paste them directly into the fields at the website.

I have Windows 7 (64 Bit).

Can somebody help me? I didn't find anything similar here on the forum so far...

  • Magnus, welcome to the forum!

Sometimes a Login item you created in 1Password for Mac doesn't work in 1Password for Windows. (I haven't seen it go the other direction, but that may be a lucky coincidence.)

When that's the case, just create a new Login for the site, using 1Password for Windows. Confirm that it works correctly; then let Dropbox sync it over to the Mac, and try using it with 1Password for Mac and with the extensions for your Mac OS X browsers.

If it works on the Mac, too, then you can just delete the old Mac-created Login item.

If it doesn't work on the Mac, too, then you'll have to maintain both of them...at least until we figure out what's happening (if you'll share the URL of the site).

Please let us know how it goes.
  • Ok, I'll test this...

    Thanks for the reply!

  • Ok, it works if I create a new login or update the login for the website (either on Windows or Mac) - the problem seems to be the following:

I didn't create the most passwords with 1password. I migrated most of them manually from Lastpass. The Mac version seems not to have any problems with this. The windows version can't handle the data obviously.

If I create a new entry for a website with 1password "Save login" it works.

Seems that I have to correct the most of my logins....

    Thanks so far.

Yeah, things that are imported into 1Password won't contain the internal details of the particular page that 1Password needs to figure out which fields to fill. But re-saving a Login will let 1Password study the web page and where you want particular information filled.

I remember when I first migrated to 1Password years ago. One thing that I found is that if I just resaved the Logins as needed, I was able to cover my most frequently visit sites quickly.

That is, I didn't sit down with the list of Logins in 1Password and try to work through them, I just browsed normally. Whenever a page didn't fill exactly the way i wanted it to, I would use the Save Login mechanism. Going about it this way makes it much less of a chore.

    Cheers,
