How to restore?

<div class="IPBDescription">Migration to 1Password Pro</div>I had 1Password and purchased 1Password Pro on iTunes thinking that I was getting the iMac version. I want to make lemonade out of these lemons. Can I migrate to the new release easily? I backed up my data to the encrypted file in 1Password. I opened 1Password Pro and went to the restore window, but it is going through the backup process.

How do I pull in the encrypted file produced by 1Password into 1Password Pro? I don't see anything in the manual about restoring.

Please note--I don't have the iMac version of 1Password. Just two versions for the iPhone. I need a procedure that does not require "opening 1Password on your iMac".

Hey there, mmoore; welcome to the forums!

Never fear! I have just the thing for you. The first thing you will need to do is backup the data from your original 1Password app. Just follow these steps:

    1. Launch 1Password on your iPhone (blue icon, no border) and go to Settings > Database > Backup & Restore.

    2. Follow the instructions to navigate to the address provided using the web browser on your computer and save the .1ptbackup file.

    3. Launch 1Password Pro (blue icon, silver border) and go to Settings > Database > Backup & Restore.

    4. Again, navigate to the URL given using your Mac, but this time restore using the .1ptbackup file you just saved.

If anything happens to your 1Password data, you can restore from this backup file. Keep in mind that because your 1Password data is encrypted and stored securely on the iPhone it will not be included in the backups that iTunes creates. However, this also makes it much more difficult for someone to access your data if they do get their hands on your iPhone. Having your iPhone require an passcode to unlock (Settings > General > Passcode Lock) will provide additional security as well.

I hope this helps. If there is anything else we can do for you, just ask. And, as always, thanks for using 1Password! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
