Masterpassword wrong, but its right
Hello. I've been using 1Password for weeks now on my Mac and I love it. I recently tried to install the Android Reader application for 1Password on my HTC Evo and linking it with my DropBox account. When I submit my master password, it returns a validation failed error. I correctly entered my DropBox information and I've verified the necessary folders are on DropBox. I've even deleted the application and reinstalled it. So, any ideas?
I've also noticed when I try and access the 1Password.html file on DropBox, I get a similar error. However, the master password works fine for the 1Password application on my Mac. I suspect these two issues are related. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hello Steve,
I am sorry to hear about your issues.
1Password Reader doesn't know if your Dropbox credentials are correct or not, it simply forwards them to the Dropbox server and asks to authenticate you on the server.
If the server lets you in, synchronization takes place, otherwise, an error message is returned to you saying your credentials have been invalid.
First of all, make absolutely sure you entered valid Dropbox credentials , select "Show Password" option to make sure there is no mistyping here.
In addition, please make sure your password doesn't contain any international characters, just standard English characters, letters or signs !@#$%^&*().
If problem persists, please install Dropbox for Android application freely available on Market, make sure you can access your account on Dropbox server by using it.
Also ensure that there are no any security restrictions on network access to Dropbox server from your phone, most users reporting similar issue with Dropbox access had
restrictions on their network preventing them from accessing the server. Also please use Wi-Fi network connection if possible.
Please let me know if you need an additional information, I will be glad to assist you further.
Thank you and best regards,
Gene

Gene,
Thank you very much for your quick reply. I reinstalled the application and watched the output from the log file window; paying careful attention that I put the correct password in (password visible). After clicking synchronize, here is the output:
Using mobile connection.
Begin sync at 10:19:34.
Authenticating by user credentials...
Authenticated on server.
Updated access keys
Found 1Password data file
Getting data from /1Password
agilekeychain/
contents.js file changed
Got file contents.js
No updates found
Finish sync at 10:19:45
Finish sync Success
Does this help? The password I use only has 3 capital letters, 3 lower case letter and 3 numbers with no special characters.

Gene,
Sorry, I posted before I was ready. The DropBox application is installed on the phone and connects to my other files just fine. As for the security aspect between my phone and DropBox, I am unsure how to check that, but I have synced pictures from my phone to my public folders on DropBox before with no problems.
Thank you again for your help.

I am having the same problem. It connects with dropbox and syncs the keychain, but it says "Failure" in red letters, and when I try to log in, it thinks my master password is wrong.
So I tried to copy my keychain to some other folder on the phone and told 1Password to use the local keychain, rather than Dropbox. When I do that, it accepts the master password, but it says "No records to show!".
I've been using 1password on Windows and Android with Dropbox for more than 6 months, I think--this is a totally new problem to me.Flag 0 -
I was finally able to get every=hings to sync correctly. I had to change the master password in the Mac version of 1Password, wait about 10 minutes for everything to re-sync with Dropbox, then retried the new master password with the Android app. Everything worked. A very big thank you to the 1Password support team.Flag 0

Hello Steve,
I am very glad that you managed to make 1Password reader working for you.
I think that some files (most likely encryptionKeys.js) got corrupted during file transfer
(I saw this problem reported once or twice) and when you tried to login there was no way to properly decrypt your secure data.
The best solution will be to remove Dropbox folder from your phone's SD card, clear an application data and sync your phone with Dropbox anew).
Also just wanted to let you know that there is a new release of 1Password Reader coming to Market in the next week or two, please stay tuned for the updates.
This release will be a last major release of the application as a reader only, after that I will concentrate my efforts on editable version.
There will be a support for the new 1Password keychain ultra-secure format (which is being adopted by all Agile applications) and some other features
you will definitely find useful.
Best regards,

I deleted the Dropbox folder on the phone and cleared the application data for Dropbox and 1Password. With the new version of 1Password Reader, it now gives me more information (though I believe it's the same issue):
Cannot get file contents.js (200:0K).
Please try again later.
Error: Missing or corrupted contents.js file!!!
I will try changing my master password, like Steve did.Flag 0 -
I got it to work:
I changed my password, but I also clicked File > Repair 1Password Data
Sorry, I changed 2 variables at once. But it worked.Flag 0 -
Hello slosweetman,
I am glad you issue has been resolved.
First of all, it is important to wait a little bit after you update your data or modify your password on your computer and before you sync your phone, sometimes it takes minute or more for Dropbox to update your data with server..
It may happen that you change your password and began to sync your phone before your data is properly updated on Dropbox server.
In this case some files may be not fully updated and as a result inconsistent on the phone.
Repair password Data does help in this case by recreating your 1Password keychain.Changing Master Password forces encryptionKeys.js file to be rebuild. Then the new
version of the file will be pulled to the phone and your master password will be properly validated.
Please let me know if you need more info

Gene
