Password History not retained

Now I'm puzzled. I have a proper "login" entry in my 1PWD database, and it has maintained a password history over the course of the year so far. However, I use it to login to a corporate site that only runs on Internet Explorer (running in a Windows VM via Parallels), so I use this entry just to keep track of the login, and manually copy/paste it when needed.

Today, I needed to update my password, so I went to the entry and used the Generate button to create a new one, as I believe I had done each time previously. This time, however, the older password was not saved to the password history.

Did something change in a recent update to cause this, or could there be something I'm doing that bypasses the save to the history list?

Thanks,

Mitch

Welcome to the forums, Markus!

I am kind of surprised this has not come up before. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mellow.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Thanks for mentioning it! I will certainly pass this along to the developers.

    Hello Mitch,

Sorry for the trouble here. I just want to be certain that we are talking about the same thing. At this time only items in the "Logins" vault store a password history in 1Password for Mac (shown highlighted in the screen shot).

When you select the item you described, is the "Logins" vault highlighted or a different vault? Clicking the "Generate" button while editing a Login item should definitely be moving the old password to your password history. It is also important that the password field is designated as the password field with a checkmark in the "Password" column under "All Fields."

Please let me know if you are able to reproduce the problem. I cannot seem to reproduce it on my own machine.

Thanks for getting back to me on this. The item is in fact stored in the login vault. And, as you can see in the attached screen grab (with the user name erased), the password does have the checkmark in the correct place. Also, you can see that history had been saved on past attempts. This time, though, if I click "generate" to define a new password, the old one isn't added to the history list.

    Anything else to check?

    Cheers,

    Mitch

    Mitch, I am not able to reproduce the issue. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />

Does this apply to all your Login items or only that particular one? What version of 1Password are you using? I tried this in both 3.5.9 and 3.6.0.BETA-42 but didn't have the problem in either.

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

Well, I may have to admit to operator error on this one...I tried this again today, and it seems to be working. It's entirely possible that I was looking at the top of the history list in haste, not realizing that the history is displayed oldest at top, and with the changed item "below the fold" on my system. So my deepest apologies in wasting everyone's time on this. I'll remember to check 3 times before posting once in the future.

    Cheers,

    Mitch

Phew! I'm glad everything is working well. I thought someone might have slipped me a crazy pill.

Please let me know if there is ever anything else I can help with (after checking three times). <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Only joking about triple checking, of course. We are always here to help!

    Best regards,
