Master password not being accepted in 3.6 or later
I upgraded to 1Password v3.6 after being asked if I wanted to by a popup in the program. The upgrade appeared to go smoothly but when I tried to reenter the program and entered my master password the program rejected it. I know I entered it correctly and the keycaps was not on. I have tried to restore from a backup. That completed successfully but still can not get into the program. Any ideas how I can get it back? Do I need to reinstall and then restore from backup to get all my passwords back? Can I even do that?

Welcome to the forums, auc. I'm sorry that you're having this problem.
For your privacy and security, your master password is known only by you. We cannot reset it for you and you cannot change it without entering the old one. There is also no "back door" to access your data without the master password. If there were, that would be a security hole that criminals could exploit to steal your information.
If you think you know what the password is, but it is not being accepted, please see the tips in 1Password's User Guide.
Please try each tip, for we have found them to be the most common causes of this problem. If you cannot remember the password, you will need to restore from a backup or start over. Both of these steps are documented in the guide.
One thing I would try specifically (since you mention that this started occurring when you upgraded to 3.6.0) is turning caps lock on. From the 3.6.0 release notes:
Changed unlock screen to no longer try a different master password case. This used to help when the Caps Lock key was pressed but created confusion when users tried to type password in the same way in 1PasswordAnywhere and in 1Password for Windows/iOS/Android.
Please let me know how it turns out.

Ok, Thank you. I did retry the master password with the keycaps ON. It did work this time. I don't understand how the master password gets changed to be all upper case during the conversion. I can assure you that prior to the upgrade the master password was NOT uppercase. But it works now and I will go change it back to lowercase.Flag 0

Really sorry for the confusion here.
Your master password was actually uppercase all along, but there was some logic in 1Password for Mac prior to version 3.5.9 that inverted the case of the password you entered if the case in which it was entered was not valid. For example, if your master password was "THISISABADMASTERPASSWORD" then 1Password would previously try that after "thisisabadmasterpassword" failed when you typed it in. This happened almost instantaneously and in the background, so it wouldn't have been obvious to you if you really thought your password was lowercase. This had no effect on mixed case passwords (so there was no decrease in security), but it helped people who had the caps lock key inadvertently on (or off, as the case may be).
Now 1Password doesn't try to "help" here, so if your master password is all caps, then you must enter it as all caps. Before when you entered it in all lowercase, it would have worked anyway. The master password wasn't changed at all, but the way 1Password applied what you typed to attempt to unlock your data file has been made more consistent across all platforms. We kind of took the "caps lock training wheels" off. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
I hope that helps. Please let me know.

Welcome to the forums, olinomad!
Please try entering your master password with CAPS LOCK turned ON. I merged your post with this related thread. You can read the explanation above, but I think that should get things working for you.
Please let me know how it goes.
