Update / Download no more possible

Hello,

I try to have help because now it's impossible to install 1Password Reader on my LG 2X anymore.

I have Froyo 2.2.2. My phone is not rooted, everything is official.

I moved the 1Password to SD2CARD to gain memory in phone. And it was working fine. But then it was impossible to update anymore from Market and so I uninstalled it. And now it's impossible to install from scratch anymore.

What can I do in order I can install it again?

It seems this is a bug in Froyo/Market because I have same problem with others applications. I moved some of them back in phone memory from sdcard and update are fine again from Market for these applications.

But with 1Password I cannot because I uninstalled it.

Market download produces unsuccessfull installation message error.

Thanks for any help.

I'm having the same problem with my Moto Droid v2.2.2. I moved several apps to the SD card including 1P and those apps wouldn't update. I moved them back to the internal memory and they will now update with the exception of 1P, it still will not update. I was going to delete 1P and try to reinstall but after reading the above post I'm worried I won't be able to reinstall it. The app works fine and syncs data but just won't update. My present version is 1.8.0.0. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Hello JPinter,

Sorry to hear about your issues.

I recommend you to upgrade 1Password Reader to the new release. If upgrade doesn't work for you, you can do fresh install, no data will be lost

I just installed it from Market on my Nexus One phone without any issues at all.

Please notice that the installation process is not governed by application you are installing but by the Market application and the phone itself.

If you have any issues with installation, please go to Settings->Manage Applications, select Market and use Clear Data button.

It helps to address installation issues in vast majority of cases.

If this approach still doesn't resolve the issue ,please check your phone's SD card, make sure it is properly inserted into the slot, not locked and not corrupted.

Then try to install 1Password for Android with SD card unmounted.Notice is that the application is installed on your phone's SD card

by default. If the card is not mounted, the application will be installed on your phone's internal storage.

Please let me know if you still have issues and need more info.

    Thank you and best regards,

    Gene

    Gene,

Thanks you very much you helped me a lot!

Actually in a LG Optimus 2X there are 2 SD CARDS.

One is internal (welded inside) and the other external (what you insert yourself).

So what you said about cleaning the Market data application is not sufficient, unfortunately.

What I did first is to unmount the external SD Card; stupid I am because 1Password don"t go on that SDCARD but on the internal one.

So I unmounted the card via Settings/SD & Memory and then unmount and I tried to install again the application and... BINGO!

Of course I just needed to remount the internal SDCARD because 1Password complaint and refuse to run without SDCard unmounted.

And that's all the story. A big thank you for your help.

Now I need to go and apply same trick for another software: Pulse.

A question. Android gives possibility to move software from phone memory to internal SD CARD. What about to move and run a software from external SD Card? Is it possible? Gingerbread do this or do we need to wait for IceCream Sandwich end of year (...or end of next year as LG is not so quick to post Gingerbread till now...) ?

And other question. Is there an official link on the web where memory stuff is well explained in an Android phone?

    Hello Frederic Pache,

I am glad that you issue has been resolved !

I found a very good solution on internet of "unable to install/update" issue which seems to me very common with many applicaitons.

    Here is a link: http://androidforums...plications.html

Moving application to internal memory before an update works but I like another solution:

Plug your phone into the PC.

    navigate to .Android_Secure

    Delete the file "smdl2tmp1.asec"

Please let me know what you think about it.

    Your phone has

Internal 8 GB storage, 512 MB RAM

Card slot microSD, up to 32GB

1Password Reader requires External Storage to be available. It doesn't matter for the application where your external storage is located: on external SD card or inside of the phone.

As soon as 1Password Reader can write/read files to/from some place on your phone it will work fine.

Older phones have only SD card as an external storage, newer ones have an external storage inside of the phone (some even have an additional SD card).

I didn't find any official link on memory management on Android phone, however, there are many pieces of information on the internet you may read.In addition, please review carefully your phone's manufacturer information , each Android phone model is different form others (I wish all of them to be the same as iPhone though but we need to support many phones).

Thanks Gene, I see you mentioned the file "smdl2tmp1.asec residing on the sd card as the problem to Frederic. The file is hidden and some may not be able to find it. There is another workaround I found that says to unmount the sd card then download the program. That's what I did first and it worked. I then went in and deleted the above file so hopefully I won't have any more problems <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
