<div class="IPBDescription">Changing my password</div>How do I change my password in 1Password??? When I was sent a new password for signing on to my.1password account... IT WAS 36 LETTERS, NUMBERS AND CHARACTERS LONG!!!!! I understand the desire, even need, even the propensity for 1Password to protect my information, but if I don't want to protect me from ME. I want to use my own and can't figure out where to go to change it.

Hello mommosan and welcome to the Forums!

I believe you are referring to your License Key. You should be prompted to setup your Master Password when you first launch the 1Password application.

Regardless, you can change your Master Password on the 1Password > Preferences > Security tab. Click on the button labeled: Change Master Password

For additional details, please review Step #3 in the following help guide: 1Password: Installation and Setup

Please let us know if you have any problems making the change.

    Cheers!

I'm a tad confused. When I tried signing in to my.1password (not 1password on my mac, but the website) earlier today, my password and/or user name wasn't accepted. So I asked for a new one, which was the numeric/alphabet they sent me =)

When I went to change my password as you instructed, it didn't take the password the website sent me for online use, but it DID accept the password I have been using all this time. So... it appears I didn't need to change it on my computer.

What I have been trying to do all this time is sync my laptop. I have tried exporting, copying my backup file onto my laptop and trying to restore, and lastly, trying to sync online. I have attached the 'failure' message I receive.

    Now what?

Thanks for the clarification. Licenses aren't 36 characters, but I wasn't sure if you miscounted. Just wanted to be sure. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I'm a bit confused by what you are trying to do when you state that you tried signing in to my .1password...the website.

Will you please provide the URL for the site you are trying to enter?

In addition, how did you request a new password for the site?

I want to be sure I understand what you are trying to do. Thanks for your patience.

    Hey cw,

1Password is not a web-based service but is an application that runs on your Mac or Windows computer. Years ago, there was a my.1password.com service, but that is long defunct.

Any additional information about what URL you are visiting would be immensely helpful. A screen shot might also help to quickly clarify the situation. Could you please take a screenshot so we can see the problem? You can take a screenshot by pressing Command-Shift-3. This will take a picture of your screen and save it to your Desktop. You can attach it to a reply to this message.

You mentioned an attachment in your most recent post, but it did not make it through. Please be sure to click "Attach This File" after selecting the file. (Don't feel bad, I forget to click that button all the time, and I work here. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />)
