Safari 5.1 domain not matched when port number is used in URL

I just installed Lion GM and 1Password 3.6.1. I found 1Password was unable to fill login info for url with port number.

I manage a cPanel powered server, the URL for the admin is usually http://www.something.com:2082/. It never has problem under Snow Leopard. But on Lion, it has the following problems:

1. Under "Logins for this site", no saved login is found.

2. I can find the saved login under "All Logins", it can't fill the info to the form.

I tested 1Password 3.6.1 with the latest version of Chrome, it worked just fine with the same url.

Welcome to the forums, Bob! I know there were some issues with port numbers a while ago, but I can't seem to reproduce the issue on my machine (Mac OS X 10.7 (11A511), 1Password 3.6.1, Safari extension 3.6.5.BETA-23).

Does the URL saving in the login exactly match the URL you are visiting, including the protocol (http://)?

Is Safari getting served the same page that you see in Chrome or is there an HTTP auth prompt in Safari (but not Chrome) for some reason? (This is a long shot, but I figured I would ask.)

If you can provide the URL, I can test it here. You can send me a PM if you prefer, but as long as the site is protected, there shouldn't be any harm in posting the URL publicly. It's up to you. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Thanks for you help with this!
  • I also use Lion 11A511. I attach the the screen shot for your info.

Perfect. Thanks for posting that. I was able to reproduce the problem and have passed this along to the developers for resolution in a future update!

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with in the mean time. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I figured I'd post in the beta forums since the Safari Extension for 5.1 under Lion is still beta even if 1P 3.6.1 isn't (I think?). I've been testing 1P under Lion since the first build. Our internal CRM site (non standard port) has never been matched (but works well with the Firefox extension) The address uses the following format: "https://internal.example.com:444/crm/login.asp?accessdenied=%2Fcrm%2Fmain%2Easp" I think I saw that someone posted that non standard HTTP/SSL ports had matching issues but didn't know if this had been addressed yet, or if it was even the reason our site doesn't work. Unfortunately, although I manage the site, I have no control over the port. It will let me save a password for the site again and creates the new record but when you go back it says no passwords are saved for the site. I just wanted to let you guys know about it in case you weren't aware of the issue.
  • Hello bowler357,

I merged your topic with a similar thread (perhaps the topic you mentioned in your post).

There is a known issue with URLs that have port numbers. As Khad mentions in his last post, the developers hope to resolve the behavior in a future update.

Thank you for passing along your information. Every bit helps!

    Cheers!

    Thanks Brandt, I guess I should have done a better job of searching first. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

    Hey Justin,

    You're very welcome!

No worries regarding posting a new topic earlier. Like you, I remembered someone mentioning the port issue, but It took me a while to find it!

Thanks again for reporting your experience along with the detailed URL and application version information. Although some issues appear related, sometimes the extra information provided by a member leads us directly to the resolution.

Hope to see you around the Forums!

    Regards,

    Brandt

I, too, am having this issue (with port numbers) as well. I'm also having this issue with certain sites (such as my job's Outlook Web Access) which is on a standard port (no port number shown in the URL) but, for some reason, does not list my saved login information. Using Chrome, it shows up just fine (and can login correctly). In Safari, I have to search for it, click it, then click login. I am also running Lion (GM build) with Safari 5.1

Is there anything else I can provide to help (like the actual URL)? It's still not working on my company's site with the full protocol URL stored, so 1P's completely broken for me until I can get this working.

Absolutely! If you are able to provide more information it may help us to get this working. If you manage the site, would it be possible for us to test it, or is this for internal use only (e.g. intranet)?
  • On probably half the sites in my password database, that all used to work under Safari 5.0, I get the message "No Logins Saved" after clicking on 1P icon. I can click on the "All Logins" tab and find the correct password, but if I click on that, it simply goes to the web page, it doesn't fill in a thing.

I can delete the password entry, and re-save it using 1P 3.6.1, but, it does not good, the same thing happens. I can uninstall the extension and re-9install, no change. So, the URL is exactly correct, it simply doesn't work. I have 736 passwords saved. So, I have to copy and paste many of them. Hopefully, this can be fixed.
  • I have exactly this same problem, it's quite aggravating <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Do you have a URL where I can test this? I am not able to reproduce this on my machine except under certain conditions (i.e., no protocol in the URL field and URLs with port numbers). Do either of those apply to your situation?

Please let me know. I would love to get this resolved for you.

    Thanks!

Ditto - have the same annoying problem.

And speaking of annoying - on sites where a single click of the 1P icon used to get me logged in and on the site, NOW I'm having to click 3 times! First the 1P icon, then a window pops up with a login info button, then I click that and ANOTHER window comes up with login details which has another arrow I have to click. This is NOT an improvement IMHO! It's annoying and time consuming and unnecessary.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

1 Password Version 3.6.5.BETA-1 (build 31070) - I download it this morning around 0414 CDT. I started all over with an install; like 3.6.1 it still does not work with Safari 5.1. All i get with Safari is the icon where it wants you to enter you master password. Fine you enter your master password and click enter and NOTHING HAPPENS - all it does is set there and blink at you. If, I go to Google Chrome, 1 Password works fine.

This is the seventh (7) time I had uninstall and reinstalled 1 Password; and, I have looked over the forums and see where a number of people have been having the same problems.

This has happen to me and with sixteen (16) offices I have around the world. IT IS A HORRENDOUS PROBLEM WITH WITH MY CORPORATION. We have over three thousand seven hundred (3,700) passwords store in our systems worldwide.

I can get no help from Agile in this problem.

    ANY SUGGESTION.

Hmm, the majority of them do in fact have a port number. Possibly all, not sure. I'll keep track of any other ones that fail, sound like you already know about the port # issue then.

is the site with not just my email but about 8 coworkers that I have to treat, all of whom have different user names and passwords.

1P used to work. I'd go to the top of the site and get a simple dropdown menu with names of all users. Click and in. Repeat as often as I want.

No, 1P says no logins are saved (although they are in the list and I can search for them and find them).

And when I do find one, click on it is not selecting the login but the website, so it just takes me to the top level.

Only solution, since I don't remember these passwords, is to go back to 1P, open, find username, reveal username, paste, reveal password, paste, etc.

I'm sure you know the drill.

Is there a workaround at least? I'm back to keeping all the passwords on a cribsheet!

    Please advise.
  • Hello eveningclouds,

I hope you don't mind, but I merged your topic with a similar thread.

At this time, when running Safari 5.1, there is a domain matching issue when using 1Password with URLs that include a port number.

We are working on a resolution, but I'm sorry that I do not have more to report at this time.

    Cheers!

A fix for this is on the way. I don't think it is in the latest version, but it should be coming soon. Thanks for your patience here! I believe it is already fixed in the code and just needs to be pushed out in the next update, but don't quote me on that. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

It is on the way, though!
  • Just downloaded the latest version 3.6.5 (build 31075). It fixes the problem. Thanks!
