Need help with dropbox sync and backup

Hi 1Password team and forum members,

I have recently bought 1Password for my iPhone and have few questions.

1) What happens to my 1Password data when i format my iPhone and restore back. Usually during software upgrades from scratch

2) What does the drop box sync do. When i start syncing it says folder not found. I don't see any encrypted file in my dropbox. What is this feature suppose to do?

    Awesome! Thanks for using 1Password.

The local copy of the data stored in 1Password on your iOS device is gone forever if you wipe the device. However, if you are syncing with Dropbox, the copy in Dropbox is left untouched. You will be able to simply set up Dropbox syncing again and be up and running in no time with all your sensitive data. Just be sure you have all your data in Dropbox before doing this! You can confirm this by using 1PasswordAnywhere to access your 1Password data from the Dropbox website in your browser.

    Hm. Maybe I should have addressed this question first. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

You need to install Dropbox on your desktop computer and follow the setup instructions in our Dropbox sync guide in order to have 1Password automatically keep all your data in sync across all your computers and devices.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!
  • Hi Khad,

    Thanks for replying.

For Dropbox sync to work you mean to say I have to buy 1Password for mac? If that true then its like a force buy <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

    Hello cyclops009!

On behalf of Khad, you are very welcome!

Ooops. Wait a minute! One more question to answer....

You do need 1P for Mac in order to setup Dropbox syncing. However, you do not have to buy 1P for Mac. You can download our 30-day Free trial in order to setup up the Dropbox sync. Download the free trial here.

Afterwards, you can delete the desktop application, and your 1P data file will remain in your Dropbox folder. Easy as that! No forced purchase required. We don't want anyone to have to buy our application. That is why we offer the fully functional free trail version.

Please let me know if you have any questions setting up your iOS sync. Our Dropbox setup help guide is located here: Automatic Dropbox Sync Guide

    Cheers!
