Unable to update from 2.9 to 3

Hello,

according to the instructions I have found here - upgrading 1Pssword should be as easy as going to 1Password Menu and checking for the updates. The problems I have - when I start 1Password application, I get a window with "Incompatible Version" - "This version of 1Password must be run on 10.4 or lower. Please upgrade to 1Password v3 for use on OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)."

This all started from me trying to upgrade my FF from 3.6 to 5.0. The plugin check came back saying the Add-On is not compatible, so I thought I'd start 1Password application. Please note - the FF Add-On for 1Passwrod still works, even though I cannot start the application!

What would be the correct way to bring my installed 1Password application to v3 and to upgrade the FF add-on?

Thank you!

These direction only apply if you were previously running v2 and you need to change to the new agilkeychain format. Which you will need to do going from v2 to v3

Here is how to fix this problem:

    1. Drag your existing copy of 1Password application to the Trash.

    2. Download and then install 1Password 2 from

    https://agilewebsolu...loads/1Password

You need this old version of 1Password to migrate your data.

    3. Open 1Password 2 and select 1Password > Preferences > Keychain menu.

    4. Click on "Switch to Agile Keychain" button and follow the instructions.

    5. Click "Create New Keychain"

    6. You may see many "Always Allow/Deny/Allow" prompts. Make sure to click Allow or Always Allow for each item.

After that you can download and install 1Password 3:

Make sure to move the old copy of 1Password to Trash before installing the new version.

You are absolutely correct. If I were to go to "About 1Password" from FF add-on - it shows - "Version 2.9.21 (build 7517)"

I guess my problem is that I very rarely use the app itself, and the FF add-on never prompted for updates. I realize now I am too far behind. From now on, I will update 1Password from the Application itself.... given that all steps you described will go smooth. Thank you for such a quick reply. I will post my results shortly!

All worked out well, except I didn't expect it to ask for the license upgrade.. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

thank you for all your help!
