Error during backup to Samba share

I've configured Knox to backup my vaults to a directory on a Samba share. When attempt a backup I get the following error:

Comparing the contents of vault sparsebundle and the backup the only difference appears to be a missing Icon file in the backup.
Any ideas?

Welcome to the forums, stringbean!
The backup was trying to copy a hidden file at the time of the failure. I'm guessing that Samba didn't understand the significance or didn't like the double dots in the name. It's been a while since I played with the Samba configurations and sources but there have been versions that had specific rules for such things.
Is there anyone out there using Samba as a backup destination for Knox vaults, or that tried in the past but had similar failures?Flag 0 -
I think the issue is to do with the way ditto tries to copy extended attributes. I can copy the vault to the Samba share using cp or the finder ok, but if I try to use ditto I get the same error.
The server is as folows:
Samba version: 3.4.7~dfsg-1ubuntu3.
Server OS: Ubuntu Server 10.04 (Lucid Lynx).Flag 0 -

Thanks for the additional information. While we can't change ditto itself, maybe this will help use see if there are some additional options we can pass to it when it's making the vault backups.Flag 0
