Hello Toby,

There was a network error when you tried to synchronize your phone with Dropbox server.

Please check you network, make sure it is OK and try to synchronize your phone one more time.

In addition, please ensure that doesn't have any security restrictions on Dropbox server access,

some users reported similar issue when they used their companies' networks and it turned out there was a Dropbox server access block.

In addition, please install Dropbox for Android application (free) on your phone and try to access 1Password.agilekeychain

folder located inside of your Dropbox by using it. Try to download/read some files, make sure this process works OK.

Please let me know if you need more information, I will be glad to assist you further.

    Best regards,

    Hello Tekgirl,

I am sorry to hear that.

The error message you are getting is related to security restrictions on your network.

Several users reported the same issue to me when they tried to synchronize their devices at work, many companies simply block an access to Dropbox server

    on their networks.

In order to check your phone's ability to access Dropbox server, psdlease install Dropbox for Android application (free) on your phone and try to access 1Password.agilekeychain folder located inside of your Dropbox by using it. Try to download/read some files, make sure this process works OK.

If Dropbox for Android lets you see and download all files from Dropbox server, restart 1Password Reader and try to synchronize your phone once again. Sometimes Dropbox server is busy processing other requests or temporarily unavailable and as a result, produces the same error.

Please let me know if you need an additional information, I will be glad to assist you further.

  • I am new to 1Password. I am trying it out and hope to change over from RoboForm if I can make everything work. I have Win7 on my laptop and have a Droid smartphone. I have downloaded the 1PW app and have established a dropbox location for 1P.

When I open the 1P app, I get a login screen saying "Enter Passwrd to Login". I enter the Master PW for 1P and nothing happens. There is no button to use to proceed. Am I using the wrong PW?

The ability to access my passwords, account info, etc through dropbox is the main feature making me consider 1P over other programs, however, that doesn't seem to be working now.

    Hello tcaggie24

    Welcome to the Forum !

There is no need for the special button on Login screen, once you entered your master password just press "Done" on pop-ed up keyboard and you will be able to login (provided your master password is perfectly valid).

If you want to see a password you've typed, gently stoke over the password field : the password will be revealed to you in clear text.

Please let me know if you need an additional help, I will be ready to assist you further.

    Best regards,

  • I finally got it to consider my password.... it simply give me a failure msg and keeping count. I am sure it is the only password I have set up. It works when entering 1P on my laptop.

What happens when I try and fail a certain number of times?
  • Success.... ok...now I need to buy the full version..

    Hello Tekgirl,

This is not true in my case. I am using wi-fi and have no security restrictions on my network.

I am using the samsung galaxy tablet - not a phone. I resolved the issue on my own. For anyone else with these issues, here is how I resolved it (on my own)...you need to put the data.1pif in the root of your dropbox folder on your device. Then when you go to sync, the device will find it and sync. It WILL NOT access the 1Password.agilekeychain as indicated above. The method I have described is the only way I could get the Samsung galaxy Tablet 10.1 to find and sync any data from 1Password.

  • Hi tekgirl ,

Thank you for letting us know the solution.

Today I finally acquired Samsung Galaxy 10' tab and will be working on adopting 1Password Reader (and the stand alone 1Password for Android which is still in development)

to the large screen. The application installed, synced and worked for me without any issues (except rendering problems on Login/Unlock screens which will be fixed in the next release).

Please stay tuned for the updates and always share with us your suggestions and recommendations on how to make 1Password for Android and other Agile products better.

  • I am having problems with dropbox. When I choose dropbox as the location of my data file, it accepts my username and password and reports success in syncing. But I can go nowhere from there except back to the original screen that asks where my datafile is. There is no OK or any other button after the syn. So I never get taken to the scree that asks for the password to unlock the data. I am using an HTC Incredible and just downloaded 1password from the market, so I assume is all up to date.

    Thanks.

  • Hello xmvaldez,

I am sorry to hear about your issue.

Once sync is completed there should be a Close button in the top right part of the popup panel.

Click on this button and the panel with sync results will be closed.

Once it is done, if you sync completed successfully you will be automatically redirected to the Login screen.

Enter your 1Password Master Password, the same that you use on your computer and you will be able to see all your secure data on the phone.

Please let me know if you found the information helpful.

    Hi folks,

I just wanted to chime in here and way please be wary of putting a .1pif file in Dropbox. These files are not encrypted and if your Dropbox account were to be compromised the attacker could view all of your 1Password data. The 1Password.agilekeychain is the only truly secure way to store your 1Password data.
  • Thank you Ben for pointing this issue to us !

Of course, it is much better to avoid having unencrypted stuff inside of Dropbox. (Having encrypted keychain is perfectly OK).

As for 1Password for Android (same as for 1Password for iOS): everything what is required for the successful sync is to have a

.ws.agile.1Password.settings in the Dropbox directory and the path written in it pointing to the actual location of 1Password.agilekeychain file

    inside of your Dropbox directory.

That is everything what is needed.

    Best regards,

    Gene
  • I am having the same issue and can't seem to resolve with restarting 1P. I'm using a Droid2, have Dropbox setup on both my mac and D2, am able to see all files on both. There IS a folder in my Dropbox directory 1Password.agilekeychain.

The error is: Cannot find 1Password setting file .ws.agile.1Password.settings in Dropbox directory (Reason:404-FileNot Found).

What step am I missing? Ideas...help please????
  • Hello cali2nc,

First of all, please make absolutely sure that you have a tiny .ws.agile.1Password.settings file in the root (topmost) directory of your Dropbox.

The file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is created by 1Password application on your computer in the root (topmost) directory of your Dropbox

when you select an option to place your 1Password data file (keychain) in Dropbox.

The file is hidden but if your "Show Hidden Files" option is ON, you will see it.

This tiny file is absolutely critical for 1Password Reader to work properly, the purpose of it is to let 1Passord know where to find your secure keychain

    inside of your Dropbox.

For example, on my Mac I have just one line written in this file "1PasswordSync/1Password.agilekeychain". It means that 1Password data file (called

1Password.agilekeychain) is located in the 1PasswordSync folder inside of Dropbox directory. If you choose an option to store your 1Password data file

(keychain) inside of Dropbox, this tiny file .ws.agile.1Password.settings should be automatically created for you.

Please review 1Password settings on your computer, make sure your 1Password keychain is placed inside of Dropbox and file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is created in the root directory of your Dropbox. If you need more information on how to properly configure 1Password on your computer,

I recommend you to contact Agile customer support team, our dedicated customer representatives will be glad to assist you.

    Best regards,

    Gene
  • I had the error too while installing the app on my Android: "Cannot find 1Password setting file .ws.agile.1Password.settings in Dropbox directory (Reason:404-FileNot Found)."

For me, simply unlinking Dropbox within 1Password on my Mac (Lion) and after that linking it again fixed this. It seems the first time I linked it to Dropbox the .ws.agile.1Password.settings file was not created. Works perfectly now!
  • Hello uzar,

Thank you for letting us know your solution.

I think I already mentioned that the tiny (but critical) file .ws.agile.1Password.settings is created by 1Password application on your computer in the root (topmost) directory of your Dropbox when customer selects an option to place your 1Password data file (keychain) in Dropbox.

However, some customer reported that the file was not created in the root directory of Dropbox for some reason even if they specified that their keychains will be located inside of Dropbox. I tried really hard to reproduce the issue with 1Password on my Mac and PC and the file was created as expected at all times.

Our team will look close on the issue. In the meantime, I am glad that we have such a simple fix in case other customers needs it.
