New Product Request: 1Password for webOS

I don't know if this question has been asked before but have you considered a version of 1Password for webOS yet? With the HP Veer and TouchPad already out, the 7 inch tablet and Pre 3 soon to come and HP's plans of getting webOS on their computers as well and the rumor of licensing it to other hardware vendors it could become just as relevant as at least Windows Phone 7 soon.

I am considering replacing my iPhone 3GS with a Pre 3 (when it finally comes out) and it would be great if I could take all of my passwords with me and not having to switch to a webos solution which to my knowledge have way inferior Mac counterparts without any browser integration. Anyway, keep up the good work, 1Password is an awesome product <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I'd like to 2nd this request. I'm about to try copying my 1password.agilekeychain from Dropbox to my box.net account so I can try 1PasswordAnywhere on my Touchpad, but it would be great to have an app. If 1passwordAnywhere works, perhaps an easy way to get started would be to create a basic WebOS app using the dev tools to just skin the 1PasswordAnywhere html file?

    Thanks,

    Shane.
  • Hello halfyearsun and scrytch! I'd like to welcome both of you to the Forums!

Thanks for casting your votes for webOS!

As you may know, our focus for mobile development has been on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7. Given our druthers, of course, we'd support every popular platform, but we just don't have the resources to do that. This doesn't mean we're shutting the door on the other mobile platforms out there, but it does mean that iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7 are where our active mobile development is currently taking place.

We're always keeping our eyes on other platforms and new opportunities. However, at this time, I have nothing to report. Please watch our Blog and Twitter sites for any future updates.

Thanks again for letting us know that you would like to see a 1Password solution for webOS.

    Cheers!

    Hi Brandt,

It seems WebOS development for a viewer (like Android has) shouldn't be too hard if you use the 1PasswordAnywhere html file. The program would just need to render the HTML in a WebOS app window, and support an interface to insert userid/password for Dropbox, and support the Dropbox API in the backend to access the files. From what I can see this should be quite easy to do, and I'd have a go myself if I had time.

    Regards,

    Shane.

    Us too! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

We never say "never," but as Brandt mentioned, we are pretty busy supporting all the other platforms at the moment. Perhaps once Lion and iOS 5 ship we can take a closer look. Developing a new application on a new OS is quite an endeavor (no matter how simple it may appear). <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I can't promise anything at the moment, but who knows what the future may hold?

Thanks for your feedback! If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

We are always here to help!
  • I'll add another vote for a WebOS version. Despite some rather silly reviews, the Touchpad is quite a device with a promising future.

Welcome to the forums, Patrick. The TouchPad is really interesting to me as well. It's the first non-iPad tablet that has actually made me consider a purchase. I don't have one yet, but I do hope it succeeds. Competition is good for everyone.
  • Another vote for WebOS. I really like 1Password and have it on all of my and my wife's Macs, but we also own several WebOS devices, and the lack of a WebOS client may require us to (reluctantly) move to another password manager. Even a one-way 1Password reader that allowed copy and paste would be OK. There was one at one point for WebOS 1.4.5, but the dev no longer supports it since the 2.x and 3.x releases.

HI cairdin, welcome to the forums.

Thanks for letting us know this would be useful for you. Unfortunately, we do not have any *immediate* plans to support WebOS. We might have something for it in the future but I don’t have any timeframe on that, I’m sorry that I don’t have any better answer than this.
  • I'd like to also throw my vote in for a WebOS version of 1Password. I was sad to learn that 1Reader had been discontinued, but understand that there were some technical issues to blame.

  • Thanks for your vote Mike, 1Reader wasn't actually our product, but it is sad to see this go.

    +1 please, ideally with TouchPad support <img src='http://forum.agilebits.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
  • 1Password is awesome. I use it for all my accounts. I just purchased a firesale Touchpad and now need access to those password. I own a Mac and iPhone 4 and would have gotten an iPad but who can argue $99. It would now after the HP announcement that a vote for this won't make a difference but I believe there may be a chance that someone may keep the WebOS flame gojng . So here is my vote for a 1Password solution.

    Cheers

Hello Christopher and welcome to the Forums!

HP's recent decision has cast doubt on the future of webOS, but if it makes a comeback, we'll certainly keep our options open.

    Thanks for adding your vote.

    Cheers!
