Accent (diacritical) marks in master password
Hi,
In my master password I included a tilde (~), that was the intention anyway. When first trying to unlock the keychain, the computer just made a beep when I pressed the Opt+^ combo. Chars like ' and `, in the Norwegian layout similarly inputted with an Opt+(whatever), Space sequence was registered fine. A tilde could be entered using the Special Characters panel, but still the password would not be recognised. Then luckily it dawned on me to put a space in its place. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
My guess is that I didn't notice a beep when I first made the password, and so produced a space.

Thanks Brandt, glad to be of any help!
I see now that it's not tildes that are rejected, but (the initiation of a sequence for inserting) characters with a diacritic. It's the same as e.g. Opt+n on US keyboards. A lone tilde can be input with Shift-`, on US keyboards.
So, a feature request would be: better feedback in the Master Password creation panel when an illegal character is rejected.Flag 0 -
Yes, the tilde is a different character than a diacritic accent above a letter. 1Password simply uses the standard OS X inputs, so what you typed initially was exactly what 1Password set your master password to. I'm not sure how we could improve this. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />
It's not that any character was rejected. If you attempt to accent a space it produces a different character. You are free to use those characters in a master password just as you can use them anywhere else in the system. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
