Should a Master Password update be synced across all devices?

If I change my master password on my iPad should it automatically sync (I'm using Dropbox) so that the next time I launch on my Mac or iPhone I need to use the new Master Password?

This didn't happen today when I tried that.

Thanks, Glenn.

    Sorry Glenn,

The master password is not synced, you will need to change it on each device.

    Welcome to the forums, Glenn!

To add to what Tommy wrote:

Your master password does not have to be the same between 1Password for Mac/Windows and your 1Password iOS app(s). Many users like to have a less-complicated one for 1Password iOS apps because of the interaction using the much smaller virtual keyboard. Because they do not have to be the same, they are never synced from one device/platform to another.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

  • Thanks for the replies. Makes sense. Just want to take this opportunity to say thanks for a great app - worth every penny.

I shared your sentiment with the rest of the team here. It is always nice to know when people really love 1Password.

This makes sense; would it be feasible to add an option (for the security-paranoid people like me) to enforce duplicating the password change? I'd be fine with making it some super-advanced feature that most people would never see, and I don't doubt that there are many implementation hurdles; but I just wanted to suggest that it might be worthwhile for those of us who are committed to memorizing and typing random passwords on our mobile devices, no matter how hard or annoying it seems.

Please file with the other 17, 458 feature requests which *might* make sense. Thanks for listening.
