No 1Password toolbar, icon or Add in in Firefox 5

<div class="IPBDescription">Occurred after Thunderbolt firmware update</div>Hi

All seemed to work well until today when I updated to the latest Thunderbolt firmware update.

Now, 1 Password does not seem to support Firefox 5 as there is no toolbar, or 1P in top Menu bar, or add in. I have gone into the 1Password preferences and the Firefox browser extension was not installed. I installed etc. Still no go. I rebooted, I installed the extensions, reinstalled 1Password all to no avail as the add in is not installed. Hmm. Seemed as though Safari was installed BUT no 1P seen as before.

Any help here??

Thanks

Andrew

I'm sorry that you are having this problem, Andrew. Please take a look at our Firefox troubleshooting guide. There are a number of common issues, and the troubleshooting guide will resolve all but the most stubborn problems.

If you are still having trouble after carefully following the steps in the guide, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.

Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

    Hi

    Unfortunately did not work.

Went through each step to no avail.

Created a new profile and installed into that - still no add in!!! I then went back into 1Password and the Firefox add in check mark was off.

I will send the report to your email.

    Thanks

Thank you for sending the diagnostics report, Andrew.

I can see from the diagnostics report that the 1Password Scripting Addition is invalid and could prevent browser integration. Go to 1Password > Preferences > Browsers and click "Remove All Extensions" and then "Install All Extensions" to reinstall the Scripting Addition.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!

  • Hi

I have the same issue. It's like that since the last 1password update. I did everything, remove add install update whatever and still can't have the icon.

Welcome to the forums, iwiiiiiiiiii. I'm sorry that you are having this problem as well.

Let's take it from the top.

It sounds like your 1Password installation may be damaged, which is likely also affecting browser integration. To resolve this:

    1. Download 1Password from our web site:

    http://agilebits.com/downloads

Click on the "Download Now" button under "1Password 3"

    2. Quit your web browser and 1Password, if it's running

    3. Drag the newly downloaded version of 1Password to the same location as any previous one -- replacing it

    4. Run 1Password at least once and then your web browser

Your information is stored in a data file separate from the application, so it will not be harmed by this procedure.

Reinstalling should then allow you to properly reinstall the browser extensions by first quitting any running browsers and then going to 1Password > Preferences > Browsers and clicking 'Remove All Extensions' followed by 'Install All Extensions' and then restarting Firefox,

Please be sure that you have not disabled Compatibility Mode in Firefox or the extension will not work. For a few technical reasons, 1Password has to install two extensions in Firefox: one for Firefox 4, and one for Firefox 5. But if you disabled Firefox’s Compatibility Mode feature you will run into issues, most notably that Firefox will load both and cause problems.

To reenable this option, follow these steps:

    1. Visit the URL “about:config”

    2. Search for extensions.checkCompatibility

    3. Ensure the value is true

    4. Restart Firefox

Once compatibility mode is enabled, restarting Firefox should allow 1Password to appear in the toolbar.

Note that Firefox 5 will warn you that the 1Password for Firefox 4 extension is not compatible, as shown here:

Firefox 4 will have a similar warning for the 1Password for Firefox 5 extension. This is perfectly normal as 1Password installs two extensions, one specific to Firefox 5, and one for Firefox 4.

Could you both post screen shots of your Firefox extensions window as above?

Also, if you can email us a Diagnostics Report as well, iwiiiiiiiiii, we can get this resolved more quickly for you.

    Thanks!
  • Hi and thanks for this reply.

Before I go to far, I don't have this value in my config of firefox : extensions.checkCompatibility

I added it manually and it did not work.

    But I installed firefox 5 and it's working, so I think I'll just leave with it <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'm glad things are working well, but this sentence confuses me. Were you trying to get 1Password to work in Firefox 5 without having Firefox 5 installed? Either way, keep on rocking! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

    Hello -

I have followed all of these instructions and after updating Firefox I cannot get 1Password to show up in the toolbar anymore. After I reinstalled I noticed that I was getting two versions of the 1password add on, but they both gave one option, to uninstall.

I followed your instructions for the extentions, checkCompatibility and that value is not there under about:config, so I am not able to validate that setting.

This was all working just great until the Firefox update. Any other suggestions? I'm going in circles here

    Thanks,

    Ali
  • I am having the same problem. I have tried all suggested remedies and nothing has worked. The 1P icon is not appearing in the toolbar. The missing 1P icon seems to have started after the last Firefox update.

Thank you for sending the diagnostics report, Ali.

I can see from the diagnostics report that you are running Firefox 3.6.19 and not the latest Firefox 5 which is required for 1Password's Firefox 5 extension to work.

Please download and install Firefox 5 and let me know if that helps.

    Cheers,
