CapsLock inverts case during paste (FIXED in 1.0.7.BETA-207)

<div class="IPBDescription">Bug report</div>When I have CapsLock on and I use the Paste button of 1Password to paste

a user name or a password into any open text entry box, the case of letters

in the username or password will be inverted.

This is using the Paste button in the 1Password UI, not the browser plugin.

I don't think this is proper behaviour.

    Hi, FIsher.

There isn't a "paste button" in 1Password that I'm aware of. Do you mean the auto-type icons next to username and password fields, the Auto-Type tool, or something else?

In case you're referring to one of the auto-type icons or the Auto-Type tool, I tried them, and there does seem to be some "less than intuitive" behavior there. I've mentioned it to the developer, who says he'll look into implementing a more logical behavior in a future release.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention!
  • You are right: it's the "Auto-type" icon.

    Doesn't change the issue though <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

It's not a deal breaker, but it had me totally confused for a short time.

Thanks for noting it as an issue.

    "More logical behaviour"? It's a bug guys <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Well, it depends on how you look at it.

I contend that if it were supposed to be a straight "paste" of whatever's in the username and/or password field, it ought to be called "auto-paste" rather than "auto-type."

The term "auto-type" implies that it's just like typing, only done automatically. If you type while the CapsLock key is engaged, whatever you type is inverted—lowercase to upper, uppercase to lower.

As I understand it, though, the developer plans to change the behavior to be what you expected—thus "more logical" to you—and I'll just have to get over the fact that it'll be inaccurately named, from then on. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
