"Save Login" in Safari 5.1
I have 1P 3.6.1 running on Lion GM and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but the SAVE LOGIN button doesn't seem to do anything.
For some reason, 1P didn't offer me to save my Log in for http://www.dailytech.com/ and when I entered my log in info manually, I clicked on SAVE LOGIN (using the 1P Safari extension) before submitting but nothing appears to happen. I looked in my log in window under the main 1P app, and nothing's been added. Is there a way to get this feature to work or is it disabled for now since Lion isn't out?

"Save Login" works, but there is no prompt in Safari 5.1 at this time. If the Login you saved did not appear in 1Password's main application window, you might have a deeper issue going on.
Try clearing 1Password's cache (Help > Troubleshooting > Clear Cache). The login will be listed with a title which matches the fully qualified domain name of the site for which you saved it (e.g., "www.example.com" or "host.example.com").
Please let me know if that helps.

Hey, ATC!
If you are still having trouble, could you please send us a Diagnostics Report? You can generate one in 1Password on your Mac by going to Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report... Just attach this to the email when you reply, and be sure to include a link to this forum thread. We are trying to collect data to be able to track these kinds of issues down so we can fix them. Yep, it started working. Strange.
I do still have issues with logins and 1P with this site (http://www.dailytech.com/), but others are working with the Save Login (manually). With the aforementioned site, I can't get 1P to save it, either automatically or manually. Just to make it clear, the site doesn't have a main log in window/section, you have to click on one of the articles and go down to comments and there's a section there where one logs in.
EDIT: I was able to manually create a log in for it using the main 1P app. It seems to work. I just wish I can add something to the log in to place a check-mark in the "remember me" box. See pic below:

ATC,
I'm glad it started working for you!
I am curious about your login issue with dailytech.com. I've been unable to find a login entry box to test.
Where is the login located on this site? I'd love to resolve your issue, but I cannot find a way to get started.
Regardless, thanks for updating the thread.
Cheers!

Hi Brandt,
Yeah it's kinda hard to find. You log in by clicking on any of the articles, scroll down to the comment section, just above them there's this:

When you click on Log in, you get an expanded log in window as such:

ATC,
Thanks! I will take a look now.

ATC,
I fiddled around with some field names, and I believe I found one that works. I tried it on Safari 5.1 and Chrome 12.x. Please see attached screen shot.
Since I do not have a valid account, I'd appreciate it if you would test my entry.
You may have to switch AutoSubmit to "Never", but I'm not sure if that is necessary.
Also, please try the login with and without having clicked the "Login" button at the bottom of the article.
I tried it without once, and when I did click Login button, the username and password fields were filled, but I don't know if it would work with proper credentials.
I'm looking forward to hearing your results.
Cheers!

I got it added manually with just generic username and password field names and it's working great.

But I cannot figure out a field name for the checkbox for "Remember me". I looked at the source code of the page but nothing really jumped at me except maybe ctl00_MainContent_chkRemember or ctl00$MainContent$chkRemember but neither worked.Flag 0 -

ATC,
Glad you got it working!
I tried various combinations using the same id and field name, but I was unable to make it work either.
Regardless, you will be able to autofill your username & password using the saved login, so perhaps your current method will be good enough for now.
I enjoyed working on this one with you. Hope to see you around the Forums soon.
Cheers!

Thanks Brandt,
FWIW, I just booted into my 10.6 partition and I had dailytech saved on 1P there and it works perfectly including placing a checkbox in the "Remember me" box. I looked at the Log In info there and boy it had a lot of fields, and interestingly it had the field name for Remember Me box as the same as what I tried in Lion (ctl00$MainContent$chkRemember):

I disabled AutoSubmit in Lion, it fills the info but still leaves that checkbox empty. Strange.Flag 0 -
ATC,
Thanks for checking SL. Unfortunately, I was so eager to test Lion, that I rashly decided not to install it on a separate partition. Makes OS X comparisons a bit difficult.
Luckily, you had a clearer head and can now relay the results I so desperately desired! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
I was a bit perplexed by my inability to get the checkbox to work, but that was because I rarely had an issue with it in SL. I'm glad you posted your screen shot. I was starting to think I'd lost my memory.
Attached is the saved login that I believed should work. However, that was based on my previous experience. I'm not a dev, so I cannot explain why it's not working, but I will pass the behavior on to them. Hopefully, they we'll have an explanation soon.
Regardless, thanks for keeping the troubleshooting alive, and for digging deeper into the issue. Detailed info always helps us get to the explanation/answer/potential fix sooner than later.
I'm looking forward to a positive resolution soon, but at least you have the majority of your old functionality in place.
Thanks again for your help.

ATC,
Wouldn't you know it...as soon as I decide to log off, I try one more saved login at dailytech.com and I'm able to save a login that actually checks the checkbox.
Please take a look at the attached screen shot and see if it works for you. A lot going on there, but I created it by clicking the Login button, filling in the username & password, checking the remember box, and BEFORE submitting, I clicked the 1P icon and selected Save Login. Afterwards, I submitted the login in the website.
I located the saved login in my Logins vault and edited the name to Dailytech. That was it. Give it a try and see what you find.
Maybe some of the other field names are necessary for the website to allow the check in the remember me box? Not sure, but we can keep this going until we figure it out! Not going to stop now! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
Cheers!

Very interesting. Unfortunately I could not reproduce your results. Save Login from the extension does not seem to work with this site for me, I click it and nothing gets added to the Login Vault (but it works for other sites). I guess in your case it just started working randomly? I'll keep trying and report back if I have any success.
Thanks again.Flag 0 -
Ok, this is getting stranger and stranger. I just tried it again and this time it did save something to the Log In vault but it had only one field, strange name and an even stranger web address:

EDIT: I have not been able to even try to save log in again, it only worked once and will not work again. I uninstalled the extension and reinstalled but it didn't help. I have a suspicion that the extension for safari 5.1 is buggy (Just a guess on my part).Flag 0 -
This is really quite odd. My guess is that the screen shot you just posted is not related to the DailyTech site. I get the same results as Brandt.

If no sites were saving logins it would be clear that there was a problem on your machine, but since you are able to save other logins I'm not sure what the trouble is. Are you certain that your keyboard focus is in one of the login fields of the form which you are trying to save?
To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, open 1Password and select Help > Troubleshooting > Diagnostics Report. Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Thanks Khad,
I already removed the Lion partition as I'm done testing for now, back to using 10.6.8. But I will test this again once I put Lion (either GM or final) back on. I probably introduced my own issues with my testing as I had Lion and SL on the same drive under two partitions. I know some of my testing of a Canon wireless MFD under Lion was affected by the SL partition. I have a suspicion that the same was possibly happening with 1P.Flag 0 -

I would be very surprised if that was affecting 1Password at all — separate partitions should be separate, after all — but I would love to get your feedback when you install Lion at a later time. Perhaps the issue won't even arise again...
Thanks for your help thus far!Flag 0
