<div class="IPBDescription">or a fresh installation of Mac OS X on an existing one</div>Lion will be arriving soon. I will be doing a clean install of Lion and not an upgrade. What is your recommendation for reinstalling 1Password?

    Hello Bruce,

Depending on your current 1Password setup (i.e. using Dropbox, etc.) there are several options that come to mind.

Without additional information, I recommend the following steps that should apply to the majority of current 1P for Mac users.

    1. Before installing Lion, copy your 1Password.agilekeychain to a flash drive or other medium, and make a note of your License Key located in 1Password > License...

    2. Install Lion.

    3. Download and install the latest version of 1Password 3 for Mac here: Download AgileBits Software

    4. Follow the installation instructions found in 1P's help guide: 1Password: Installation and Setup (in Step 2: select "Locate Existing" and find/select your copy of the 1P keychain)

    5. Enjoy using 1Password!

I'm running 1P 3.6.1 and the latest Lion GM release, and I've noticed no changes aside from those required for 1P's Safari 5.1 browser extension.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions regarding your future 1P installation. I think you'll like what you see!

    Cheers!

    Brandt

P.S. If you forget your license key or otherwise need to know it (i.e., temporarily installing 1P on a relative's computer), you can have it e-mailed to you within approximately 5 minutes by visiting our website: Resend Licenses Just wanted to pass that along. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

The simplest thing is to just use Dropbox syncing and then install Dropbox before you install 1Password. Once Dropbox is done syncing your data file, 1Password will automatically detect your data file in your Dropbox folder.

If you would prefer to perform the task manually, Brandt's instructions will work very well. Complete instructions can also be found in the "Setting Up a New Mac" section of 1Password's User Guide. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I agree with Khad that Dropbox syncing is the easiest way to go.

As an additional safety precaution, you may wish to backup your 1Password data and copy that file to a flash drive too.

    Hey there, LA Bruce!

Dropbox is a free cloud sync'ing service that 1Password can use to sync data between computers and mobile devices. I personally use it to keep 1Password on my Macs, PCs, and iOS devices in sync so that I don't have to copy data over manually and I always have access to it. I was skeptical at first ("What do I need that for?), but frankly I am not sure what I would do without it at this point.

You can find more information about it in our knowledgebase, and if you have any questions just ask. We are always here to help! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
