Cannot uninstall extension for Fluid 1.2

Hi!

1Password is a great app and is a real time-saver. However, I'm having trouble with one minor thing. I installed the Fluid browser extension for my various Fluid apps but now can't uninstall it.

I quit all open browsers, clicked on "Remove all extensions" in 1Password (3.6.1) and then just placed the check mark next to the Safari extension. I quit 1Password. Restarted Safari and checked to see that its extension is installed and working. Then I restarted one of my Fluid apps and noticed that the 1Password key icon is still displayed in the menu bar and the 1Password drop-down menu appears when you click on it. However, if I look at the 1Password preferences again, there is no check mark next to the Fluid extension setting!

Any ideas?

Kind regards,

Mark

  • Hey there, mark_s! Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We are huge Fluid [s]addicts[/s] fans here, so I am not sure any of us would have necessarily caught this on our own. Those of us still on Snow Leopard use Fluid obsessively, and the folks on Lion, well...they spend a big portion of their days pining for 1Password Fluid support. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

So, I tested this extensively, and it seems that the Fluid extension is linked to the Safari extension somehow. If you click "Remove All Extensions" you will find that the 1Password extension is no longer present if you launch a Fluid app. However, installing the Safari extension also installs it in Fluid, most likely because they are both using the WebKitBundle.

The only way to get rid of the Fluid extension at this time is to "Remove All Extensions" and NOT install the Safari extension. I have reported this and hopefully we can get this fixed soon. I am sorry for the inconvenience (and confusion!)

  • Hi Brenty,

Thanks for the reply. What I find strange is that even though I'd activated the Safari extension several months ago, the extension didn't appear in Fluid until I specifically activated the Fluid option last week. So it seems that the extensions for Safari and Fluid only become somehow permanently "linked" after the Fluid extension option has been activated in preferences. Strange. Anyhow, none of this affects the greatness of 1Password - it's got to be one of the best apps I have!

    Kind regards,

    Mark

Hello again, Mark! Thanks for following up, and the kind words!

Just to clarify, this is not intended behaviour and was not the case in earlier versions, which is why you didn't run into this before. With Safari 5.1 imminent, this is less of an issue (as our new Safari extension is completely different), but I have filed a report for this as it may affect others (using Leopard, most likely).

Thanks again for bringing this up! If there is anything else we can do for you, just ask. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
