Identify fills form, but it doesn't take

I've been using 1Password for over a year, but this is the first time I've run into this odd problem.

On the MicroCenter website, when I try and buy something, I used the 1P button in my toolbar to fill in my name, address, phone number, etc.

All the information appeared on the form, and I clicked "Review and confirm."

Imagine my surprise when the page reloaded with this error:

Last Name is Required

Address is Required

City is Required

State is Required

Zip Code is Required

Phone is Required

Email is Required

The only thing that stayed on the form was my first name!

Here's how to reproduce the problem:

Go to http://www.microcenter.com/
Click "Add to cart" for any item. This will take you to the cart page.
On the cart page, click "Checkout Now." This will take you to the "Order Information / Billing" page
Use the 1P button and select your identity. Note that the form gets filled in correctly. (Yay!)
Click the "Review and Confirm" button at the bottom of the form.
Get the error I described above (boo!)
I should mention that I've ordered from their website in the past, and 1P worked.

I'm running OS X 10.6.7, Safari 5.0.5, and 1P 3.6.1.

  • Huh. Well that is strange. I tested this as you suggested, and you are correct. One thing I noticed is that tabbing through the fields after filling them with 1Password clears them. It looks like they are using a script that modifies it during input (for example the phone number field with the parentheses and hyphen in-line).

Thanks so much for pointing this out, and providing such detailed information! I am reporting it, and hopefully we can get this working better in a future release. It fills a bit more reliably with our Chrome extension, and it just so happens that this is the basis of our new Safari 5.1 extension as well. There is still room for improvement, but we are getting there! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I figure bug reports like mine are more likely to get fixed than a bug report that just says, "it doesn't work."

I'm a full-time Mac consultant, and I sometimes have to explain to my clients that unless they can tell me (or show me) the problem, I can't fix it.

    Truth. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Thanks again for the thorough report!
