OS Lion and 1PW - why 1PW?

So updated to Lion. Using 1PW Version 3.6.1 (build 31057. Long time users of 1PW.

1PW why get rid of the right click to fill in login info? What a pain.

Also, 1PW doesn't login into Google gmail either. Nothing happens when I select my info. Nothing. No error or dialog. Not sure why you guys are making us do more clicking and traveling with the mouse to go to the menu bar? Revert please. Did you just port the Google Chrome (hate Google Chrome) way to the new Safari? It is a pain in the.

Like I said using 1PW for very long time. On computers and iPhones.

I have been running Lion since beta 1 and all our betas including the new extension all along. Gmail is one of the sites that has always worked for me. Can you provide more details or anything specific that you think may help us find a solution for you.

Couldn't agree more. Haven't they ever heard if it ain't broke...? They made it much worse. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_doh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='(doh)' />

I wish they'd give an option of this new style or the better old style. It may make me look for an alternative. It's really annoying.

Hey guys! Michael, welcome for the forums! You and Mozart are absolutely correct. Right now it can be a bit of a nuisance, but rest assured we are listening carefully to your feedback and concerns, and are working to address these issues.

In the first place, the old extension had to go away. It was using a scripting addition, and Apple said those are out for Lion. Period. This is also why we cannot support other webkit browsers on Lion at this time (although we are exploring our options). In effect, the previous extension is broken when it comes to Lion.

While many of the differences are initially due to the limitations of the Safari extension API (which we are now using in lieu of scripting addition support), we are actively working to improve functionality and explore the possibilities of implementing features that many of us have come to depend on (myself included) in our previous Safari extension. The good news is that our new, fully-compliant Safari extension can be updated separately as we add features and fixes, without a full 1Password update. The bad news is that getting the new extension to where the old one was after years of development will take a lot of hard work and some time. But we are on the case.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I was away for a couple of days.

What I did was re-create my logins. These now work fine in gmail and 1PW.

The right click is so missed. I see this as must re-activate.

I do not care for the popup window and then the need to click on the info to be filled in. I neve enjoy when something that was one click is updated and now takes 3-4 clicks.

But devoted to 1PW none the less.

We just pushed out a bunch of updates today and more are on the way. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

Could you please try the new Beta release (3.6.5.BETA-3)? You can do this by going to the 1Password > Preferences window, selecting the Update panel, enable the "Include Beta versions" checkbox, and then click Check Now. Once the update is installed, try again and see if it helps.

    The updates: they are a-comin'.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I just found it easier to redo all the logins not working. Now they work fine. Nuisance for sure.

Now can you give us back Right Click fill in? ANd why is it when I customize the Toolbar in Safari moving the !PW icon where I want it, when I Quit and restart Safari it's back where IT wants to be? Why I want' Right click back. This 1PW icon going where it wants is a long time PINA.

    If it's Apple it Apple.

all I know is with the 1PW way of Safari of OS 10.7 extension, using 1PW is 2-3 clicks more for the same function of old. And when you work on a computer literally all day - 2-3 clicks more per? Lots of clicks

Oh sorry - even he login redo's not working. Ugh

    Brenty,

Have you actually read the blog? According to that blog things could't be better!??! Yet I've spent hours reading through the forum and find nothing but problems and pissed-off users.

Where exactly did the author of that blog find all the "positive feedback"? The blog is obviously written by your lawyers...deny everything!

Granted, Lion and Safari 5.1 played a cruel trick on you, but re-cycling the awful hack-job interface you rushed out for Chrome is NOT going to restore your glory. Far from it. The longer you insist on trying to "fix" this thing, the faster you are going to slide into oblivion. Users are a fickle bunch and they rewarded you for a brilliant piece of software and a beautiful user experience with their patronage and their loyalty. What you've done deserves neither.

Go back and start over with fresh ideas. This extension is so bad it can't be fixed with patches and workarounds. Discontinue support for Lion if you have to until you have something worthy of calling itself an "improvement" to what was essentially the best password vault/manager in the world before you sink further into the realm of products that lost their way...Blackberry anyone?

I haven't had this experience at all, and I started using it on the 20th like everyone else. It may be that I have been manually resaving Login items over the years so I didn't encounter this phenomenon. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Right-click contextual menus are being worked on. The toolbar button reset happens when Safari updates the extension. This is a nuisance, but I am afraid it is unavoidable. Eventually we will get to the point where the extension is stabilized (you know, after beta) and with less frequent updates it won't be as often at least.

I hear you about the clicking. We are working on refining the interface as well during the beta. You should see the fruits of this soon. Honestly, I am gravitating toward using the keyboard more as a result, and it is pretty good.

I have. Plenty of frustrated people commenting on the blog as well. However, we have received a ton of positive feedback as well, especially via Twitter and email. I won't pretend that we don't have a lot of work to do, but negativity seems to thrive when it is given a public forum. So here we are. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

No trick. What's done is done. Right now we are focused on making the new extension better every day so that it will eventually meet your expectations and our own.

We have a lot in the works, so I wouldn't count us out yet. Not supporting Lion at all would just be wrong. While the new extension may make a good whipping boy, having no extension at all would be a mistake. I mean, we're working on it anyway. It didn't seem fair to hold out on our customers, even if it isn't going to win an popularity contests (yet). Give it time. 1Password is still just as awesome as it always was. We just have do make the new extension match that. In time, we hope to win you over. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Long time member of 1password but don't really like it anymore (at least for now) you can't adjust a login (name) before you safe it or even safe in a folder you created in 1password, now you are forced to open the app with in Mac it self to adjust all your logins, hope the team fix this soon, and I mean really soon <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

We're working on exactly those issues, red. Thanks for asking about them. We just released another update which brings some amazing new features (and interface).

    Check it out.

The features you are asking about didn't make it into this release, but they are on the way. (By the way, the autosave bar does allow you to specify the name of the Login item. Manual save from the extension does not yet.)

If there is anything else we can help with, please let us know.
