1Password suggests to add a new password after filling login from 1Password

hi forum,

I'll get a bit annoyed about a 1Password behavior from the browser plugins. I was asked regularly by 1Password if I want to add a password after a login, let's say htaccess, typo3 or stuff like that, just a second after I logged in via the password list of the plugin.

at first, this feels very clumsy, second the list grows and grows with redundant passwords, if cliked in a hurry.

isn't it possible to stop 1Password's plugins to asked, if they performed a login just before?

thank you for your feedback,

rolf

    Hey iRolf,

I'm sorry that you are having this problem. I am not sure if I completely understand what you are describing, but if you want to completely disable autosave, you can do that in 1Password's preferences on the Login pane. Simply uncheck "Enable Autosave of Logins in browser".

There is also a known issue with Safari 5.1 and Safari's AutoFill. Does that apply to your situation?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks!

no, I love the autosave option. but I would be glad, if it does it only once for a certain domain.

it is okay for me if, let's say www.domain.com is different from sub.domain.com and 1Password is asking for saving the other login. the issue I mention, is that e.g. sub.domain.com has a htaccess, so 1Password suggests a login. after choosing that login and got a login, 1Password is asking me if I wan't to save this login. the same happens with insite logins like Typo3: successful choosing a suggested login, I was asked repeatedly if I wan't to save this alleged "new" password.

is there something to understand how 1Password decides if there was a new login?

thank you for your any enlightment.

We are working to restore the functionality of the "Avoid Autosave on These Domains" list (1Password > Preferences > Logins), but I don't have a time frame for when it will be working in the new Safari 5.1 extension.

I am having a hard time understanding exactly when you are seeing the issue you are describing. Could you give me a list of numbered steps that I could take in order to reproduce it on my own machine?

Thanks for you help! I would love to get this resolved for you.

    hello again,

I'd try to built a picture story to show up the issue.

sorry, I'm on a germen Lion, but I believe you'll be able to figure out the english meanings...

due to the fact that the screenies are from a productive system, I've do hide the domains.

(can't see the image in the preview... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10046857/1pwd.jpg)

    using FF 5.0.1:

Step 1: htaccess - clicking 1P button and choosing

    Step 2: saved login.

Step 3: 1Password asked me for the master password and unlocks htaccess

Step 4: choosing the saved login for the Typo3 backend and log into the CMS

Step 5: 1Password asks (again) for saving this log in.

    hope that helps.

    cheers,

    Danke sehr, Rolf!

I can see from the screenshots that you are using Firefox which is different than our other browser extensions.

Have you tried just adding the domain to the the "Avoid Autosave on These Domains" list? Are you using the same credentials for an HTTP Auth prompt and a normal web login? Without actually seeing the domains there it is hard for me to tell what is going on. Is the HTTP Auth prompt on the same domain as the web login?

I am not sure I understand what is going on in steps 4 and 5 since it looks like you are already logged in from step 3. What exactly is happening in steps 4 and 5? Why are you accessing 1Password again after you are already logged in?

If you can give some specific steps I could take on my own machine, that would be great.

Apologies for not understanding. Thank you for your patience.
