<div class="IPBDescription">won't auto populate username and password</div>I am new to site so please excuse some basic question. Upgraded to lion last night. (I have macbook pro and safari 5.1. I Use 1password all the time and love it. Have been experiencing all the problems your other users have been have. Not populating user name and password on sites, automatically log gin me off after 10 seconds etc etc

My question is when will you get an update to correct all these problems. I don't really like looking at threads and things like that. Just tell me when 1password will work again...like it used to. If you say its going to be 2 weeks to fix. Thats fine wit me just let me know.

    Hey Kurt,

I don't have a time frame for specific updates, releases, or fixes. There are too many factors at play to allow us to give accurate estimates. We also cannot foretell the future and don't know what else may come up to force us to change our plans. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

That said, we are focusing all of our resources on improving the Safari extension and one of the great things about the new extension is that it will automatically update. You don't have to do a thing in order to get the improvements as we release them. Neat!

The extension does work really well, though, so it sounds to me like there may some specific problems on your machine or with certain URLs.

As it perfectly expected on a major operating system upgrade like this, we have observed some applications that are not yet compatible with Lion, and in a few cases those incompatibilities have resulting in OS X telling 1Password that it is time to lock – long before we should. Please check all your installed applications to see if they have Lion-compatible updates that need to be applied.

The general class of application that provides any kind of video drivers for screen sharing, supports remote devices or computers as “monitors”, etc. has been identified as needing to either be updated for Lion, or temporarily removed from your system if the software vendor hasn’t yet gotten a compatible update ready. These applications are at the heart of this rapid 1Password locking. Not every application in this class has shown to be an issue, so don’t accuse the software developer(s) without cause. Also, there have been a few applications that don’t seem to be in this same grouping but that also cause 1Password to lock ahead of schedule.

To get the latest up-to-date information on this issue, visit this forum topic.

If manually saving a login does not help, please let me know the URL, and I pass it along to the developers or find a solution for you. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

    Cheers,
  • thanks for th reply. I have now managed to sort out the auto locking problem. The only problem I now have is on a specific site. When I log in via 1P, the site (creditexpert.com) automatically goes to window saying update your password. i think I know what the problem is. When 1P auto populates my username and password - the button next to the password is the "forgotten password / username. May 1P is automatically hitting this button instead of the button saying "login".

What do you think - have other users identified this problem?

    Cheers

Try re-saving the Login and let me know if that helps. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

I just updated to Safari 5.1 before I get Lion. Now my 1Password is not filling in my logins. If I look at "all logins" the information is there. I tried logging in manually and re-saving. That did not help. I have to keep unlocking to even try and then I can't get 1Password to fill in my login info. Please help.

Okay, I just disabled the Safari extension, then checked for updates, re-installed latest beta (4). I checked some more of my logins. The Facebook login works. My bank login fills in the data, but it immediately goes blank again. My Angies list fills in the data and goes to a generic (not logged in) page. Running OS X 10.6.8 on a 6-month old iMac.

    Welcome to the forums, Dennis.

This should be fixed in the latest update. Please make sure you are using at least 1Password 3.6.5 and Safari extension 3.6.5.BETA-29. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

To manually update the Safari extension, you will need to temporarily disable automatic updates, otherwise, if you sit tight it will eventually update automatically.

We are releasing multiple updates per day now, so it can be fun for all of us trying to keep up.

Please let me know how it goes for you with the latest update.

    Cheers!

After installing the latest update (Version 3.6.5 (build 31075)) Auto Fill finally works, but when AutoSubmit is enabled I end up with an error on my credit union's site. With AutoSubmit off I click on Login and all is fine.

I find it rather annoying that if I manually copy and paste the login and password 1Password wants to remember the site/login. Certainly it seems that before presenting that option it could check to see if that url is already in its database before presenting that option.

1Password has become my good friend up to this point. Please keep working on these annoying problems to restore it to its exceptional usability.
  • Hello sirrah and welcome to the Forums!

I'm glad things are getting better with your Safari experience, but I know that we are still seeing some issues on particular sites.

We are working hard to "fix" as many issues as we find, but it would be very helpful if you would reply back and let us know the URL for the credit union site you use.

We look forward to your response.

    Cheers!

Since updating to Lion, I noticed some changes, and apparently others have, too.

Before Lion, the procedure to use 1Password was very simple; Click 1P on the menu, and it would apply a password without delay.

With Lion, I must select 1P on the menu, which leads to an initial login screen (where I must key in my Mac's password), followed by site screen (which I click), followed by Login Details (which I click again), which finally validates the password. After around half an hour, or when I boot Safari afresh, I must enter my Mac's password again.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the same issue that other Lion users are encountering. I've updated the plugins, and 1Password is otherwise stable....it's just having to go through several screens before finally getting your password applied. It's what you're working on now.

If this is correct, it's just a matter of waiting until for the relevant 1Password update or plugin revision. But if I'm mistaken, it would be great to go back to the time of having a password instantly validated.

    Hello poikkeus,

There have definitely been changes made to how 1Password works with Safari. As you may have read around the Forums, these changes were necessitated by the requirement to use new Safari API for browser integration.

These modifications have been most apparent in the UI that you see when clicking the 1P icon, but additional functionality differences are obvious. However, we have been pushing out updates to the browser extension multiple times per day, so, although the Forums are a good place to research issues and post questions, with regards to the Safari 5.1 extensions, often the issues are outdated within hours. This is not usually the case, but ever since Lion was released, the fixes/upgrades have been fast and furious.

To get an idea of how of much the Safari extension has changed in the last few days, please refer to our Safari 5.1 Change Log:

Due to the high number of updates we are putting out right now, your best resource for finding out about what the new Safari extension can and cannot do, please bookmark our FAQ site: 1Password 3 FAQs

There you will find the most up to date information regarding the Safari extension, including options for Go & Fill, which will decrease the number of steps it takes to login to websites.

Lastly, please keep an eye on our Blog for news of new updates and coming attractions! AgileBits Blog: Safari News

Please review both links and let us know if you have additional questions.

I upgraded to Safari 5.1 and installed the latest (beta version) 1 Password plugin this morning. Until I realized that the 1P icon in the toolbar is the method to use instead of right-mouse clicking in the browser window, I thought it still didn't work.

So I take it that the right-mouse click 1 Password fill-in procedure will no longer be supported because of Apple's new plug-in requirements for Safari? That's ok with me. Until now, I'd been ignoring the icon, so I didn't know it actually works, and works well from what I'm now seeing. Keep up the good work!
  • Hey opaekaa,

The options that you were able to access by right-clicking in a browser field are referred to a Contextual Menus. You are correct that the new requirements imposed by Apple has placed the future of contextual menus in doubt, but we are investigating whether we can work around the restrictions and provide at least some semblance of the old functionality. There is another thread discussing the topic that you may find interesting: Feature Request: Safari 5.1 Contextual Menu

I'm glad you are being "forced" to discover the 1P icon, but do not despair over the current version of the UI. We have updates planned for not only the functionality of the extension, but also the look! Please check out our Blog for more details: Safari 5.1 Sneak Peak

If you do not want to wait for the future enhancements, and you wish to use the contextual menus of old, please consider running the Firefox 5 browser as a short-term solution. It is compatible with Lion and 1Password 3.6.5, and you may find that it suits your needs better for now. I'm only mentioning it as an option for now.

Thanks for your kind words and understanding. Please let us know if you have additional questions or feedback.

    Cheers!

    Running 1password 3.6.5 on ox 10.6.8

I startup Safari and put my password in to access a webpage and then quit Safari and start Safari up again I have to put my password in again to get back to the same webpage, this is a very big pain. Any work around?

  • I posted earlier on this problem. I was disturbed to see a rep from 1Password saying that the problem might be with the operator's machine or software. Please, don't you have enough posts of the same issue from multiple users. Surely this must mean there is a problem with 1Password software occasioned by switching to Lion. Like others I don't have the time or patience to read all the posts here, nor should we have to. As I stated before we are not beta testers. We are paying consumers of your product and you have to responsibility to treat us as such. Fix it and let us know when you have done so.

This is a known issue that we are working hard to resolve. Thanks for your patience while we work on automatic unlock in the new Safari extension.

All known issues are posted in the 1Password User Guide. There is no need to sort through a bunch of forum posts. That's our job. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

We also update our blog regularly with posts like the ones we just posted outlining all the changes lately.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help with.

The way I use 1Password is easier now.

I press 1P in the menu bar, as usual, which brings up a login screen. I must enter my computer's login; after that, I only need to press ENTER once or twice, and I'm ready to go.

I gather that the biggest challenge for 1Password is finding a way to automate an auto-login for users who just booting up, or whose machines are waking from sleep, or haven't logged on for a certain amount of time. Given Lion's constraints, this doesn't look like an easy task.
