Upgraded to Safari 5.1 under Snow Leopard

After installing Safari 5.1 this morning, I noticed that 1Password no longer worked. I upgraded 1Password to 3.6.1 and did the install. Nothing. I followed these directions as posted here:

Remove the 1Password extension

Open Safari

Go to the Safari Menu > Preferences > Extensions

Select the 1Password extension

Click “Uninstall”

Close Safari

Reinstall the Safari extension

Open 1Password

Go to the 1Password Menu > Preferences > Browsers

Click the “Install Safari Extension” button

When prompted, click “Install”

It still did not install. The appropriate browser window fails to open. I did update Firefox to 5.0.1, and 1Password 3.6.1 works with that browser. Please advise.

I had exactly the same problem. I have discovered that 1Password works _very_ differently in Safari 5.1 than it did in previous versions. The 1P button in the toolbar does nothing until you have an actual web page displayed. Then you must click on the 1P button to bring up a 1Password dialog that prompts for your master password. Then there is no 1Password item in the context menu. You must navigate to 1Password's "all logins" display, find the one you want and then use the arrow at the right of the entry to fill in the password. Then you must manually click on the login button on the web page to complete the process as auto-submit no longer works.

Thanks for the tip. It does work in the manner you described. Not sure I like it though!

I will add my voice to the I don't like it and ask the question why is the interface different in every browser? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

First they disappear Camino support and they might as well have disappeared Safari as well given the machinations I have to go through to get to my banking now.
  • Thanks for updating the thread. While the browser button was not working very well earlier today, we have released an update to the extension that improves it. It now brings up a popover menu, and works even on a new tab or the Top Sites page.

We have some more improvements in the works, so keep an eye out! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
