Safari 5.1: Open new site in current tab

If I'm looking at a site in my current tab, and implement 1P and select a login for a different site, I don't want it to load that new site in place of the site I'm already viewing.

I understand that this issue is related to the new implementation of 1P as an extension, but this is a terrible UI decision, since it can result in lost data if a user is in the middle of filling out a form.

Unless & until the old behaviour can be implemented, you should consider some kind of warning. Perhaps, on first use, it can display a pop up warning: "This website will be loaded in the current tab." (You could use a checkbox to allow users to hide the warning after seeing it once.)

Same problem here. When you use the "Go & FIll" (Option-Command-\) shortcut before, it would load the page in a new tab. That no longer seems to happen with the new extension and it loads in the current page (which is extremely annoying).

To make matters worse, it looks like the 1Password extension doesn't work in a blank tab. So you can't even open a new tab and then use the "Go & Fill" option!

Any way to go back to what it was like before?
  • Hey guys!

I agree 100%. I don't like this either, but for now we will get by. The good news is this is not desired behaviour, and we will be fixing this in an update. Our top priority was to get the extension working so that none of us got stuck in Safari without 1Password, but now we can focus on making it more intuitive and enjoyable to use.

    Thanks so much for your feedback! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
