All password fields in iOS display each character until the next one is typed

Hi,

I'm using 1Password on a iPad 2, I have noticed unlike the Mac version, as I key in my master password the characters show until you type the next character, is this supposed to happen and is this not very secure?

Thanks,

Andy

    Hey there, andylowe! Welcome to the forums! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

This is normal. Unfortunately, this is just the way password input works on iOS. It can be helpful, since it is so easy to mistype things on an onscreen keyboard. This feedback allows you to verify that you hit the right character. Otherwise, you might be typing the wrong thing all day and not even realize it! The fact that it only shows the most recently entered character is a nod to security and balances out the usability, in my opinion.

In the mean time, if you are confident of your iOS typing skills, you can always cover the password field with one hand and type with the other. But keep in mind that if there is someone watching, they will be able to see you hit the "keys" just as they could on a physical keyboard. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
