Have 1Password for iPhone - do I need to buy again for Mac?

Hello, so I have 1Password for my iPod Touch. If I want to use Dropbox sync, do I have to buy it again to install on the Mac?

New to this, any help appreciated!

"failed to find the data file on Dropbox. Please make sure you are using the latest version of 1Password on your Mac or Windows desktop. Also make sure that Dropbox is fully synced on your desktop."

So does that mean that I cannot use 1Password solely on my iPhone / iPod Touch and sync to Dropbox?

Also... did I make a big mistake by setting up some passwords on my iPod Touch BEFORE installing a Mac client?

Welcome to the forums, japannewbie! You absolutely do not have to buy the desktop version to do this, but you will have to use the free trial to set it up initially.

Before you do anything else though, be sure you back up your data. Just launch 1Password on your iPhone and go to (More) > Settings > Database > Backup & Restore and follow the instructions to navigate to the address provided using the web browser on your computer to save the .1ptbackup file.

You sure can! Just follow our guide to get it set up. You will need to create a new data file on the desktop version and set up the Dropbox sync there, but once that is done, you can continue using Dropbox to sync your data even if you decide not to use the 1Password desktop application.

Not at all! While we aren't able to do the initial setup on the iPhone, plenty of people do this and it is not a problem at all. Just make sure you back up your data (a good thing to do regularly anyway), and let us know if you have any other questions or need assistance! <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
