1Password

<div class="IPBDescription">Difficulty with Auto fill</div>I have been using 1Password for several years and it has been great, especially the Auto fill/auto log in function. However, since starting Lion this function is not working well. Some sites do work well but others such as banks, Ebay, phone company, do not auto fill for log in now. If I start 1Password and a site is not auto logging in, I then manually input the username/password, save it to 1Password as it requests, and then the auto fill function will work. However, when I log out of 1Password and restart it the same sites will not auto fill for log in. This is very frustrating as I think 1Password is unique and very useful. I am using Safari (as before) and have checked that it is the latest version, as is 1Password. I am running an iMac. Please advise me how to fix this problem which I can only think is a problem between Lion and 1Password. Thanks.

  • Hello nshoreman and welcome to the Forums!

The new Safari 5.1 extension has had to be redesigned due to restrictions and other changes imposed by Apple, and I know it is frustrating to you and many other users (me included).

Consequently, there are several differences in functionality between the current 1Password extension and the previous extension for Safari 5.0.

However, we are working hard to adapt to the new rules, and we have been releasing functionality updates daily.

Please review our following Safari 5.1 Troubleshooting help guide to see if some of the answers you want are listed here: 1Password Safari 5.1

After you've taken a look through the guide, please let us know if you have additional question regarding specific websites or functions.

Once again, I'm sorry for the frustration.

    Cheers!

    Please make sure you are using at least 1Password 3.6.5 and Safari extension 3.6.5.BETA-29. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

To manually update the Safari extension, you will need to temporarily disable automatic updates, otherwise, if you sit tight it will eventually update automatically.

We are releasing multiple updates per day now, so it can be fun for all of us trying to keep up.

Please let me know how it goes for you with the latest update.

    Cheers!

I do have the most recent version of the Safari extension app. I have reloaded it x2. Also, I have reloaded 1Password from your web site, so I assume it is the most current version. I am still having the problem and await your fixing the problem. Thanks.

Can you tell me what version of 1Password and the Safari extension you are using? I am not having any trouble with my own eBay login. Could you provide the URLs for some other sites where you are having trouble and tell me specifically what the problem with each site is?

I am wondering if I am perhaps misunderstanding the issue.

Thanks for your help. I look forward to resolving this for you.

Is there a way to revert back to an older Safari extension (as I explain in another post, not answered yet) the mix of 1P 3.6.5 and extension V29, got my banks sites, not to fill and not to autosubmit

I manage to revert to Safario extension v28, and now it is backl to (nearly normal)

We need a way to revert to previous extensions (Safari) in case the new one creates new problems

I understand you all work hard, but it is Beta, and we need to be able to revert back (1P i know how, extension I don't)

    Thanks
  • Hey Giles! We don't currently have a way to do this. We are moving forward. If you let us know what sites you are referring to, we can test them and try to get this fixed for you. Reverting is not ideal because --while it may help you with a particular site -- it breaks other things.

Please let me know so that we can address this. Without being able to test it it will be very hard for us to get this fixed for you. I'm not saying "impossible", but knowing what we are looking for increases the chances significantly.

  • Hello,

Forgive the HiJack...but having the same problem I think.

Let me say at the outset, I realize it's growing pains and you're scrambling to fix...I get it. But, I simply dont have the time to read through all these post to determine what's wrong. (Please just tell me that it will all be sorted soon and return to the way it was logging in before. Without the popup box, with the text drop-down list of specific logins)

Anyway, I'm unable to login to many sites per normal, but 2 that are weird are these:

    PS..Im running:

    Version 3.6.5 (build 31075)

    Ext: 3.6.5 beta 30

    Thanks

Above is the information you requested. I can't understand how you would not be understanding me. This seems to be problem affecting many users of 1Password since the installation of Lion. As I have stated this problem began with loading Lion onto computer, finding 1Password was not doing auto fill/log in properly as before. Then I uninstalled 1Password, reinstalled it, and it asked for the installation of the Safari add on/extension, which I did. The problems still exist. As stated in other posts, I don't feel it is up to the paying customer to be doing Beta testing for you. We bought the program in good faith, and I enjoyed it until this recent problem. Please fix it on your end. Of course I would love to have you tell me it is solved. Otherwise, please keep me posted on the progress.

    Welcome to the forums, mcjorge!

The Safari 5.1 extension won't be returning to anything since Apple made some changes that made this impossible. You can read more in the 1Password User Guide.

I use Mint.com regularly and have never had any trouble with it. Please try re-saving your login as described in the User Guide. That should get it working for you.

BaseballHQ is using an HTTP authentication prompt. Safari 5.1 does not allow us to access HTTP auth prompts at this time, but we are working on a way around the limitation of Safari.

nshoreman, I use eBay regularly and have never had any trouble with it. Please try re-saving your login as described in the User Guide. That should get it working for you.

Similarly, I saved a test Login for Scotiabank and it fills my fake credentials properly without fail. Please try re-saving the your Scotiabank login if you are still having trouble. I have noted fact that autosubmit does not work on the Scotiabank site, though. We will try to resolve that in a future update. In the meantime, you will need to click the "Enter Scotia OnLine" button after filling your credentials.

Thanks for the feedback. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

    Cheers!

Hello and thanks for the reply.

OK...I guess I wasnt really specific enough. sorry.

uggghh on the bbhq...but i'm sure you find the work around soon enough.

I can login to Mint, it was the whole new box pop up thing that really threw me off. Anyway, I'm sure I simply have a setting miss-clicked in the preferences...so which setting needs changed to get it back to the simple drop down list from the 1P button...that allowed you fill or generate or save or whatever from that drop down? (Or is this what you meant by wont be returning to that format?)

    Thanks again!

    Thanks for following up, mcjorge!
(Or is this what you meant by wont be returning to that format?)
That is exactly what I meant. The code that we have used for the past five years had to be scrapped in this latest update. There is not a way to use it any more, so we are working on making the new extension even better than it was before. You can still access the password generator in the new extension and save logins:

You can check out the new interface we are working on here.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if there is anything else i can help with!
