My wife and I have separate UA's on our MacBookPro (Snow Leopard). We have the same password database and 1 password has worked just fine in both accts. I had installed the beta fix for the extension problem (new upgraded version of Safari) and 1PW was still working fine. Suddenly, in one UA, when I click the "!P" button on Safari and open the 1PW master password dialog and enter my master pw, I get a red flag that says "database error". Below this is says "access to keys.iterations (or something like that) is not permitted." This problem is ONLY occurring in ONE UA and 1 PW is working fine in the other. The first thing I tried was checking for an update and there was one (3.6.5), which I installed. But no help! Suggestions??
Addition/Correction: red flag in dropdown says "Problem with database" ; Below it says "Database error: access to key.iterations is prohibited"
This seems to be a permission problem (?), but I don't understand it since we use the SAME copy of 1password, the same password database, the same master password, etc.. All logins work fine in her UA but all present this problem in my UA>
We are both administrators and are both correctly signed in to our respective UAs.Flag 0 -
I have the button in the Safari toolbar, and when I click it, I get the drop-down window asking me to enter my password. I enter my password, but nothing happens when I hit return. I've tried: shift-return, ctrl-return, cmd-return. opt-return, fn-return, cmd-shift-opt-return, cmd-shift-opt-fn-return.
Nothing works, so therefore the Safari extension does not work.
this is with the 3.6.5.beta-28 safari extension
I updated to beta 30 and now the error I get is:
"Database error: access to keys:iterations is prohibitedFlag 0 -

I am having the same error message in only one of two user accounts. My wife and I have separate user accts. but use the same install of 1PW, the same password database, same master password, etc. but everythings working fine in her UA and in mine I get the "Database error" message whenever I try to use the 1P extension on the Safari header. I have a separate post about this just below.Flag 0 -
No suggestions so far, but in the meantime I solved my problem: "Database error; access to keys.iterations not permitted"
The answer is in the FAQs: under Safari 5.1 extension issues: under database doesn't match or words to that effect.
Basically, in Safari Preferences, uninstall the 1password extension. Then in 1password preferences, reinstall the Safari extension (Safari 5.1 Beta extension). Then unlock the main 1password app and close it. That made my problem go away in the affected user account (I did this in the affected UA, not sure but it should have worked if I had done it in either UA, I think.

(see my post about my own problem with this)
I found the solution to the "Database error: access to keys.iterations not permitted". It is suggested in the FAQs for 1PW Mac under Safari 5.1 extension problem. Specifically under a subcategory about database does not match or words to that effect.
Essentially you uninstall the 1password extension in Safari: preferences: extensions. Then you open 1password and in preferences you reinstall the 1password Safari (Beta) extension. Then open the main vault with your master password in the 1password app..
After opening 1PW you can re-close it but when you use Safari you should now be able to unlock the dropdown from the 1PW button and log in.....at least it worked for me!!Flag 0 -
Awesome. I'm glad you were able to sort out the problem, willyjp. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

No luck uninstalling, reinstalling, quitting, launching, launching before quit, quitting before launch, launching after quit, etc.
I've cleared the cache and rebuilt the file as well.
Private browsing on or off doesn't make a difference.
The 1password application itself hangs while trying to submit a Diagnostics Report. I have to force quit it after 10 minutes.
Let me know if I can provide any other info or logs that will help.
Thanks,
Darryl

PS- I should mention that everything works fine with ChromeFlag 0 -
I tried all of the recommended fixes for the error with the Safari extension and here's what worked for me:
[s]-Uninstalling extension, quitting Safari, opening 1password, reinstalling extension, updating extension[/s]
[s]-Disabling Private Browsing[/s]
-Unchecking "Disable automatic unlock for all applications"
-Moving the 1password application back from my /User/Application directory to the /Applications directory
Combination of these 2 fixed my problem. Good luck!Flag 0 -
Thanks for the update, Darryl.
To help us track down the issue more quickly, could you please email us your Diagnostics Report? To generate the report from 1Password on your Mac, please follow this guide (which includes instructions for when you are unable to generate the report using the menu command). Then attach the entire file to an email to support@agilebits.com.
Please include a link to this thread in order that we might more quickly "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, though.
Thanks!Flag 0 -
Just to be clear for anyone else: This seems to be resolved by reinstalling the extension on the account that is having trouble accessing it (it needs the proper permissions) and not using Private Browsing (or at least being prepared for 1Password to not work after you do). <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />Flag 0
