Accidentally removed Database-Pointless Message

<div class="IPBDescription">Don’t ‘play’ with new ‘toys’ unless well prepared?</div>I am running 1Password Version 3.6.5 (build 31075) under Lion.

Just got the upgrades ‘under my belt’ when I stumbled across a small piece of software for removing cookies.

There exist BackUps of everything from a complete system clone, Time Machine, multiple Data Backups and e.g. multiple 1Password Backups and all of these being distributed across multiple HDDs.

So safe in this knowledge I decided to ‘trial’ the cookie eradicator.

There were so many cookies found on my Mac that it was difficult to accept that I had pressed the keyboard that many times.

I set about preserving the many known OK sites cookies plus in particular 1 Database from Agilebits, before attempting any removals.

‘Clean Machine’ here I come in very quick time and very slick operation.

OK, so ‘play time’ is over and back to my trusted friend 1Password.

Have you ever had that sinking feeling after entering a password, was that too damn slick or what?

When I hit the Enter Key a bold message in red appeared in front of that mighty vault graphic ‘Data not Available’ [think the ‘not’ should read ‘NOT] then words to the effect ‘Open 1Password and recover the Database’.

The latter being the point of this thread.

There is no way you are going to open 1Password at this point, perhaps what is needed are the instructions to ‘Recover the Database‘ and advice to try again once this has been done?

After the first few heart stopping moments brain kicked in fingers did the clicking [in the correct order] to navigate to the appropriate KeyChain and enter the Master Password again.

First time I have ever needed to recover by this means, great system that just works [as some say] just be aware of what you need to do in emergency.

The cause of the issue seems to be in the trial software involved.

A checkmark destined to keep the Database protected from disconnection was placed appropriately but the software allowed it to be ‘dropped’ or otherwise removed before the next use.

I could not find a way of keeping the checkmark where it was supposed to be and await a response from the developer/s.

    Hey Stan,

If you delete the database for the 1Password Safari extension (which is separate from your data file), you will need to reinstall the extension. There is no need to "recover" anything. We suggest not deleting anything related to 1Password if you want 1Password to work, though. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

The message you saw was only for the extension. If you open the main application, all your data is still there. Simply follow the troubleshooting guide to reinstall the browser extension.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!
