Go & Fill not working in Snow Leopard
Well Hi all,
I'm afraid to say that after the emails of praise and gratitude I have sent to Agile in the past, I am now among those who are feeling utterly demoralised as a result of the upgrade to Lion and the effect this has had on 1Password.
However, interface changes aside, for me 1Password just doesn't work reliably any more.
For example, using Go and Fill for my bank (Natwest.com): I had set up a "Bank, First Page" as the bank uses a multi-page login system. Choosing it via Go and Fill takes me to the correct page, but no information is pasted into the fields.
And there are many, many examples like this.
What seems to be happening is that choosing the Go and FIll site takes me to the site, but no info is then entered or submitted. Once at the site, choosing the 1Password icon from the browser and selecting the (only available) site from the list does successfully paste the correct info and log me in. So does using the keyboard shortcut at this point.
So why isn't the whole process working together? Why aren't I being taken to the site and logged in?
As I said at the beginning of this post, I, like others, am sympathetic to the bumps associated with change. However, I simply can't understand why the product is so broken, and there appears to be no apology in large flashing letters to appease loyal users. Continually pointing is to a users guide may be indicative that the message within isn't being presented sufficiently clearly.

Hi Monti,
Well I'm at least glad it's not just me! I've trawled through the forums and it seems we're not entirely alone, but with no word from Agile who knows if this is how it's going to before a while? <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_sadsmile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-(' />Flag 0 -
Welcome to the forums, Chardy! I'm sorry that you and monti are having this problem.
I wish I could have replied sooner, but we have been a bit busier lately as a result of Lion's recent release.
There was a known Go & Fill issue in Snow Leopard. Would that apply to you situation? Are you using Snow Leopard or Lion? Either way, the issue in SL should be resolved in the latest update. Please update to 1Password 3.7.0 and verify that you are using at least version 3.7.b2 of the Safari extension and let me know if that helps. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

FYI, not fixed! I'm using Snow Leopard, Safari 5.1 (6534.50), 1Password 3.7.0 (build 31083) and 1P safari extension version 3.7.b5 and I'm having exactly the same problem. I use the Go & Fill menu from the Dock Icon and I'm taken to the correct web page but no form information gets filled out or submitted.Flag 0 -

Well thanks for a reply, but you've not really filled me with confidence - my first line explicitly says I've upgraded to Lion!
It's still broken, and I'm running: 3.7.1.BETA-2 (build 31087) with extension 3.7b2
One site I'm trying to access returns the error shown in this screenshot:http://www.screencast.com/t/2uYI36zB56o
It would appear there's some parsing error.
Would Agile be prepared to offer money back to its paying customers for this complete disaster? Like many I demoed the software before buying; had it worked like this I'd never have committed so many resources to populating a password database like this. I'd gladly become a paying customer again if you can get it working, but I think it's time to start offering refunds. Chirpily issuing updates declaring new features when the fundamentals are now clearly so broken is in very poor taste.Flag 0 -

Extension is at 3.7 b5 (at least)
Why do you have the last version of the App and an old version of the extension
Just curious, a mistype maybe !!??
Hi Gilles, and thanks for the heads-up.
It wasn't a mistype, the extension was set to update automatically, and I guess it hadn't. I've upgraded to b5 now so let's see if it makes any difference!Flag 0 -

Well I've tried with the new extension (3.7 b5) and there's no apparent difference (except the UI - which I quite like actually!): I invoke the extension with a keyboard shortcut (⌥⌘⏎), type a few letters to select the site I'd like, hit return and am taken to the site, where my details are not filled in <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> . On invoking the second keyboard shortcut (⌘§) to fill in the details they are, though <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> .Flag 0 -
I spoke to soon in my previous post. I apologize for the confusion. There are so many updates lately that it can be hard to keep track of all of them.
Right now, external Go & Fill (e.g. double-clicking an item in the main 1Password application) is not yet supported in Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard. It works properly in Lion, but in Snow Leopard the site will only open. Your username and password will not be filled in.
We are working to resolve this.
In the meantime, please consider that you can use 1Password entirely from within the browser to fill Logins. Simply visit the Login page for the site whee you wish to log in and then press Command-\ on your keyboard or select the Login from the 1P toolbar button in Safari.
You can also Go & Fill a site from within the browser. Simply press Option-Command-\ and then select the site from the list or click the 1P toolbar button and then the "All Logins" tab.
I hope that helps. Please let me know.

[s]Sorry...but I do not believe this to be true. I am using Lion...with 1Password 3.7...and the 3.7.b5 extension...and external "go and fill" does not work. If I double click on a site in the application...the site is opened in Safari...but no credentials are populated.[/s]
My apologies!!! I installed the 3.7.b7 extension and it is now working!!!
Thanks!!!!Flag 0 -

I am still on Snow Leopard, latest update (10.6.8 Build 10K549) and have the 3.7.b7 extension in Safari 5.1, and it STILL isn't filling in the site info from the Mac application. Just wanted to give feedback, since it sounds like the issue was resolved in Lion.
Thanks.Flag 0 -

Double-clicking from the app is indeed passing credentials to the browser now in Lion with latest builds, but the Submit Never variable I have set for some sites which use Gotchas is being ignored.Flag 0 -

Do you have a URL I could test this on?Flag 0 -
It can take a moment for the main application to sync with the browser extension, so if you just made the change it may autosubmit if you try it immediately. However, Submit=Never is working for me at that URL with 1Password 3.7.1.BETA-2 and version 3.7.b7 of the Safari extension.
Is there another URL I can try?Flag 0 -

Well those are the versions I'm using too, and it's definitely not working for me. NOSUBMIT has been set like this for months, too. The ARMYNET URL doesn't work either. Any word on a refund until this is a usable application?Flag 0 -
Unfortunately our refund policy is 30 days. Your license was purchased back in 2009. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_worried.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':S' />
I would love to get this working for you, though. I just can't reproduce any problem with the per-item Submit setting in the current versions. I will try to get someone else on the team to check this out as well.Flag 0 -

I've deleted and recreated the Armynet entry, and it now works. It seems there's a problem with older entries. I rebuilt the data file earlier today as I suspected there may have been a problem with this, but it seems that didn't fix it.Flag 0 -

Hi Chardy,
As well as a new interface the Safari extension has a whole new form-filling and saving codebase too, so it may very well be the case that some sites do need to be re-saved in order to work properly. Just to confirm, you said the Armynet site is working again, as in obeying your 'Submit' preferences, is this the same for other sites too after they've been recreated?

After updating the main app today to 3.7.2 (build 31099), (Safari extension 3.7.b10, on Snow Leopard, Safari 5.1 (6534.50)), I find that Go & Fill now works. One annoyance though: I need to give my master password twice, once to the main app and once to the Safari extension.Flag 0 -

A little weirdness here. I only had "Disable automatic unlock for 1Password" checked, all else unchecked, when having to enter my password twice (unexpected behavior). I unchecked this option and then did not need to enter my password at all, not even once (expected behavior). I then re-checked the "Disable automatic unlock for 1Password" box as I want to protect access with the master password, and now am only asked for my master password once (expected behavior). I'm hoping the old behavior doesn't come back, that un-checking and re-checking this box cleared things up permanently somehow.Flag 0 -

Hi Stu,
it does seem that the last 48 hours' updates have remedied a lot of the issues I was having. And recreating the logins consistently leads to correct adherence to the "Submit / Don't Submit" variable.
Cheers for your efforts.Flag 0 -
