Problems since upgrading

Hello guys

I loved the app when I first used it but I wish I never upgraded to the latest build. Since upgrading, I have nothing but problems with the app, and it has been very frustrating.

Here are my current specs:

- OS X 10.6.8

- Safari 5.1 (6534.50)

Here are the problems since upgrading:

- No 1password menu visible when right click, this is what I used 1password for, without it, it lost it benefits for me

- I do have the 1P button left to the browsers address bar, however it is a nightmare, since it asks for the main password every time (even though I have disabled asking for it).

- The 1P button shows a menu, but when one of possible logins is clicked, the form is filled in but not entered. This actually adds 3-4 extra clicks including having to type the main password, where it used to be only 2 clicks.

- Another problem is the dark grey bar at the top appearing sometimes for no reason (or so it seems).

So basically I just would like to get the right click menu back, and if not possible, is there a way to downgrade?

Thank you

PS: just upgraded 1P to 3.7.0BETA-2 (build 31079) but problems persist.

  • From what I've read here it sounds like there's been a lot of aggro getting it to play nice because of the changes made by Apple in Safari 5.1, and since 5.1 was giving me more headaches than anything since Windows Vista I decided to downgrade that rather than 1Password. Went back to the previous version of Safari restored from Time Machine. Didn't even need a downgrade of the 1Password app, though the extension didn't seem to work well so I turned that off and just stuck with the old plug in. The result is I don't have the 1P button for the toolbar but I do have the key icon on the menu bar that did exactly the same thing anyway, plus I've got the right click menu back. No idea if it would work the same for everyone but it's worked out okay for me.

Iam having the same problems. In the pas the upgrades were seamless, but this is frustrating. I have Safari 5.1 7534.48.3 using 1Password 3.7.6B-3 Build 31081 When I follow the directions go to a site and click the 1P button in the tool bar a white box descends with no text to click.

Welcome to the forums, dutchbb. I wish it was under better circumstances, but I would love to help you out.

The contextual menu is something we are working to restore, though it can only exist in a more limited form in Safari 5.1 due to some technical changes.

Universal Unlock is available in the latest version of 1Password. Please be sure you are using at least 1Password 3.7.0 and version 3.7.b2 of the Safari extension.

If you are having trouble with autosubmit, please be sure that you enable this: Go to System Preferences > Universal Access, and click "Enable Access For Assistive Devices" at the bottom of the window. If you are still having trouble, could you provide the URL(s)? We would love to help, but we need to know where the problem is. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

If you are having an issue with autosave, please see the relevant page in the User Guide and let me know if disabling Safari's AutoFill helps.

A lot has changed in Safari 5.1. It is more like Safari 8 from a technical standpoint. However, we are working hard to improve the new extension to meet and exceed the abilities of the old extension. You can see a sneak peek on our blog.

If we can be of further assistance, please let us know.

Thanks for the welcome. That's very unfortunate, that makes me want to downgrade Safari actually, if it is possible at all. I need the right click because it's fast and easy. Also in pop ups without browser buttons I sometimes need to login with 1password, ATM there is simply no way to do that, other than to go to 1Password app en copy/paste the password, which is tedious and counter productive.

I noticed that the problem is that it doesn't automatically unlock anymore when I enter my main Apple password when starting the OS. It asks to unlock when I first start the browser, where it used to be unlocked already at that time. Would it be possible to make it unlock again automatically when I have entered the OS password?

It already is enabled, but since the last beta the problem seems to be fixed.

    Ok I'll check it out.

Thanks, I really hope you can make it great again, also with the new Safari.

Thanks, downgrading to Safari 5.0.5 with Time Machine worked well and I got the full auto unlock and contextual menu back, I'll keep it this way until Safari 5.0.1 is better supported.

Please note that Safari 5.1 is a major security update, not just a functional one. If asked, Apple and AgileBits would strongly recommend you do go ahead with this important upgrade — not for us, but for you.

We've been making major strides in the short time since Lion, and Safari 5.1 on both Lion and Snow Leopard came on the scenes. Most all of the features and behaviors of 1Password that you might have been used to before are now in play. We have even made a partial return of the contextual menu for those customers that insist on not using the keyboard shortcuts or clicking on the 1P button in the toolbar.

It sounds like you are using your OS X keychain to remember your 1Password master password. The new Safari extension does not support that capability, as it cannot "call out" to the keychain routines from its sandboxed environment.

And just to fill in the gaps, we no longer need system-wide "Enable Access For Assistive Devices" to be enabled. That was a technique we initially relied on for some of our returning features but have since found a much better way to handle Autosubmit. You can now have that system setting be whatever you would like it to be.
