Autosubmit issue

donebylee
donebylee Junior Member
1P Version 3.7.0.BETA-3 (build 31081) with the Safari Extension 3.7.b2 are producing the following errors on these sites:

Regions Bank: go & fill correctly fills in user name and password but doesn't autosubmit and opens an additional Regions page which seems to be an internal user page (very weird)

Discover Bank: first instance of go & fill opens page but does not fill in any info, hit cmd-\ and info is entered and autosubmit works.
That is what I have found so far.

Will post back if I find more.

Are you on Lion? If you are, can you open Safari, press “Command + Option +Q” to close Safari completely and then open Safari, does that improve anything? I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue with Discover, it works correctly for me.

Please let us know how it turns out.

Just noticed that according to Agile's own FAQ that they have not updated the betas at all for two days.

Maybe that means we're about to get a stable, working version of 1P.

    I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Hey donebylee,

Apparently your gut instincts were correct! We released the latest stable version 3.7.0 only hours ago.

Please install the latest version and let me know if your issue is resolved. If not, we'll take on the challenges again. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

No changes from the previous version.

    Everything is exactly the same.

Here is the weird Regions page that opens:

Auto submit and Regions actually does fill in the login info but opens two tabs with the above page as the second tab.

This is NOT new, but is what has been happening for several iterations of 1P on Lion.

Discover Bank has exactly the same issue as described above. As I said, this update has changed nothing.

    Please, please, please fix this….

Please turn off the auto-submit feature for both sites, do they work better? To disable the Auto-submit feature for a particular web site:

    1) Open the main 1Password application, go to the Logins section and select the Login item for the site.

    2) Press the edit button and change its Submit option to "Never".

    3) Press the save button to save it.

After that, can you provide us with the site addresses for banks, so that we can test it and see what's going on.

    Thanks!

Turning off auto submit did make a difference on the regions website, it no longer opens the additional tab in Safari.

    I hope this is temporary.

Turning off auto submit did NOT make a difference on the Discover Bank site (https://www.discoverbank.com/)

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the update!

We will work to get this resolved in a future update.

I didn't see a URL for the Regions Bank you mentioned above. Is this the right one?

    https://www.regions.com/

Disabling autoaubmit for both sites seems to work well with the latest versions of 1Password and the new Safari 5.1 extension. Have you tried saving new Logins for the sites? I am having a hard time reproducing your results here using the latest versions of 1Password (3.7.1.BETA-2) and the Safari extension (3.7.b5).

You can find instructions for re-saving the Logins in the User Guide. That often helps if the site has changed their code at all since it gives 1Password a chance to "relearn" everything about the login page.

Please let me know how it goes using the latest versions and re-saving the Logins.

    Thanks!

With latest version of 1P and the Safari extension (after re-saving logins) here are the results:

https://www.regions.com no longer produces the weird payroll login tab, the login form is correctly filled out, but auto submit still does not work

https://discoverbank.com correctly fills in the login form but auto submit does not work

NEW PROBLEMS:

Chase VISA and CitiBank Mastercard sites no longer auto submit (and no re-saving does NOT fix it)

1P pop-up panel frequently stays in place after using G&F key combo (clicking outside of it makes it disappear)
Two steps closer, three steps back, but the new look is much more functional.

    Maybe next time…..????

Can you make sure you're running 1Password 3.7.1 (stable) and version 3.7 b9 of the extension at this point. I know the frequent updates are not ideal but we want to get everyone up and running as quickly as we can.

https://discoverbank.com correctly fills in the login form but auto submit does not work

I just tested both sites with some fake details, freshly saved using the latest extension's new manual save option, the '+' button when you're in the Logins section. While I don't have accounts to actually test with, the fake details were filled and auto-submitted.

It may seem like the stupidest of questions, but could you go to the Settings (gear icon) tab within the Safari extension and make sure that 'Automatically submit logins is checked'. Also, make sure that if you changed the 'Submit' option for a Login item within 1Password to be 'Never' that you change this back to 'If AutoSubmit is ON'.
Chase VISA and CitiBank Mastercard sites no longer auto submit (and no re-saving does NOT fix it)
Do you have links for both the login pages for Chase and CitiBank so we can see what's happening? The latest extension and builds of 1Password should have greatly improved auto-submit performance.
1P pop-up panel frequently stays in place after using G&F key combo (clicking outside of it makes it disappear)
I can't reproduce this here, the extension fades away after I've selected an item. Are you selecting a Login to 'Go & Fill' at this point?

Thanks for your patience in all of this, by the way, I know it's frustrating when things don't work the way they should, for example my audio interface has been effectively useless to me until the last few days because the manufacturer didn't update the drivers for Lion (I thought CoreAudio was more flexible than that, turns out it is with USB stuff, just not fancy Firewire interfaces).

Yes, everything is the most up-to-date version.

Auto submit on Regions and Discover Bank sites DOES NOT work for me.

Yes, auto submit is turned on in the extension.

    Chase: http://www.chase.com/Chase.html

    Citi: https://creditcards.citi.com/

The persistent pop-up happens about every third time. I invoke it with the Cmd-Opt-\ key combo, then type the login entry (e.g. Regions) and hit the return key. The webpage opens, the login info is filled in, auto submit does not work, and the pop-up remains in the upper left hand corner until I click outside of it.

OK, after more exploration no websites work with G&F anymore.

    100% failure rate.

    None. Of. Them. Work.

All will fill in the login form and then……nothing, I have to hit the return key to login.

Prior to this, only two websites didn't work. Now all of them fail.

    Really.

I am losing confidence and patience.

AND NO RE-SAVING DOES NOT WORK.

I know it's hard to be patient when nothing seems to be working (or things seem to be getting even worse than they started). It does sound like you're having a problem with getting your Autosubmit setting recognized by the new Safari extension. Your data fills, but you have to press a return key or click a button to have the credentials submitted to the web site. Is that a correct assessment?

Please run the 1Password application and choose the Help > Troubleshooting > Restart Agent menu option. Then choose the 1Password > Preferences menu option and click on the Logins pane. There, un-mark the Autosubmit box (the first one on that pane) and close the preferences window. Re-open the Logins preference pane and now mark the Autosubmit box once again and close the preferences window. You're in effect toggling the setting off, then back on to force the browser extension to get your preferred setting.

At that point you can try to fill a web site's form and see what happens. Please let us know the results and we can go from there. Thanks!

    That changed nothing.

I went through the 8 finance websites that I frequently use and all of them are same as before: login forms are filled in but auto submit fails. Also in 8 sequential login attempts, the 1P pop-up "stuck" 3 times, requiring me to click away from it to make it disappear.

Thanks for the additional information, donebylee. This is definitely not expected behavior. I can't reproduce the problem here, so could I ask you to specify exactly what version of 1Password and the Safari extension you are using? Also, we just fixed in a issue with Go & Fill. Were you attempting to double-click the items in the main 1Password application or just fill them using Command-\ when you were viewing them in the browser already?

Please be sure you are running the latest beta version of 1Password and the Safari extension and then uninstall the extension. When you reinstall the extension, please carefully follow the steps in the User Guide since each one is important especially in circumstances where there appears to be some difficulty.

I hope that gets things working well for you. If not, we made need a Diagnostics Report. There might be something specific to your machine that is causing the problem.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thanks!

Ok, after the update to 3.7.b10 here are the results:

Only two webpages don't work with G&F auto submit (Cmd-Opt-\):

www.regions.com -- The payroll login page that had been popping up when trying to login to Regions is back.

www.accountonline.com/cards/svc/Login.do -- Home Depot Credit Card site operated by CitiBank.
In both cases auto submit fills in the login info but doesn't proceed from there (with the Regions site popping up the errant page as noted). HOWEVER, while on the webpage, Cmd-\ WILL fill in the login info AND log me into the site. The Cmd-Opt-\ (Go & Fill) is failing on these two sites.

And yes, I had checked that all tick boxes are appropriately ticked.

The versions are the most current: Version 3.7.1 (build 31089) with extension 3.7.b10

I guess I'm on my own now.

Still same issue. Same websites. Multiple updates and no fixes.

    I really hate this.

1P used to be such a reliable app. No problems.

    Now………..not so much.

    I miss Agile Web Solutions.
  • Lee,

I'm sorry if Ben's reply came across as goodbye. We're still the same team, it's literally just our name that's changed, contrary to some people's suggestions we have not been bought out by Microsoft.

I think what Ben was trying to say is that if those specific sites don't work with Go & Fill then we'll have to investigate those specific sites further. It may be something in the site's code that's causing the issues, or a conflict with the auto-submit functionality of 1Password.

We're not giving up on you, but please do be patient while we try to get things working. We have just released some major new updates that may help, but there's an issue we're investigating at the moment so I'm not going to recommend an update right away.

    Hey donebylee,

Releasing frequent updates is our attempt to most efficiently introduce fixes for problems experienced by our users. Unfortunately, if the updates do not fix your particular issue(s), I can understand why you would feel that way.

    As of 08/10, I am running 1Password 3.7.5 (build 31106) & 1P's Safari extension 3.7

Regarding the specific URLs you mentioned on 08/04:

www.regions.com: I was able to save and AutoFill / AutoSubmit a login on this site. Please see attached screen shot.

www.accountonline.com: I was able to save and AutoFill / AutoSubmit a login on this site. Please see attached screen shot.

Hopefully, the recent builds have resolved the issues that you were experiencing earlier today. If not, please let us know. We will stick with you until the end. There are no "goodbyes".

Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues with these two sites or any others.

    Cheers!
