Safari extension password generation

<div class="IPBDescription">Do I have to unlock 1Password to generate passwords in Safari now?</div>Do I have to unlock 1Password to generate passwords in Safari after the migration to the extension?

I used to be able to generate passwords w/o unlocking anything by using the drag down menu off the 1P button (which seems to have totally changed), which was mighty convenient. Is there a new way to generate passwords w/o entering my master password?

I'm using 1Password Version 3.6.5 (build 31075) with Safari [extension 1Password (beta) 3.7.b2]

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. In addition, as soon as you click outside of the 1Password extension, either in Safari or another application, you'll have to re-open the extension again to create another password. It is pretty time consuming compared to earlier versions of the tool.

I haven't upgraded my firefox and I still have the old extension on there, with the "easy" menu. That could be a solution for you if you create passwords often and rely on that feature.

Welcome to the forums, sadock! Sorry I couldn't reply sooner. We have been pretty busy around here lately. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/skype_smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':-)' />

The new extension must be unlocked before any action can be taken with it. Generated Passwords are saved directly in your data file so this requires you to unlock 1Password. This is the same as the previous extension except the prompt happens before you can access the Password Generator rather than afterwards.

You can always tweak your security settings to provide easier access to the extension when you are at your computer (Preferences > Security). Consider unchecking the "Disable automatic unlock…" options. This will sync the unlock state of 1Password between the main application and the browser extension(s). If you have "Lock when sleeping" enabled, simply close the lid to your laptop (or otherwise put your computer to sleep) to lock everything before you walk away from the computer.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

    Thanks!
