Plans for Snow Leopard support?

I'm wondering if Agile Bits has a roadmap for 1password development that might indicate how long Snow Leopard support will continue? With all the recent dropping of support for various browsers et al. I'm curious when you're going to start adopting some of the Lion specific features into your codebase that will necessitate leaving prior OSX versions behind? After all SL is not a supported platform anymore, right?



To me, Lion is a disaster of UI and usability. I'm also deeply concerned by what it represents as a future direction for Apple. Sure, some of the changes can be reverted with options hidden or otherwise, but how long do you really expect Apple to keep those available? Plus I have some hardware that won't even run Lion at all. For the immediate future I plan to stay on Snow Leopard but I know that eventually the tools I use will be forced to move forward and then I'll have some hard decisions to make if Apple is still moving in their current direction.

I don't believe we have crossed that bridge yet. As far as I'm aware, there is no set date/version number where SL will no longer work.



Also: I'm not sure what you mean by a supported platform? The latest versions of 1P work on SL and we are certainly happy to support folks running that configuration.

By "unsupported platform" I meant by Apple, not you. Although that's probably not entirely true either since I'd bet they'll release SL fixes for a little longer. We haven’t technically dropped support for most of the browsers or the older OS platforms. We merely stopped the further development of newer features for older browsers and older OSes. Users are free to continue to use the older version of 1Password on the older platforms, we still support Tiger users with 1Password 2, Leopard users with 1Password 3.5 (which still support most of the old browsers like Firefox 3). Starting with 1Password 3.6, it’d be restricted to Snow Leopard and Lion. On Lion, due to the changed technologies, we can only support the top three major browsers at the moment, Firefox, Safari and Chrome. In fact, a few of our 1Password 2 users managed to still get it to work on Lion. They won’t be able to use 1Password with the modern browsers, but they still have their trusty 1Password app working. <img src='http://forum.agile.ws/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

As for the Lion being a [color="#1C2837"][size="2"]disaster of UI and usability, what makes you feel like that? I thought Lion bought a nice refresh to the interface. After a couple of weeks of using it, it grew on me and I have no issues with it. [/size][/color]
